Laal Singh Chaddha is a major flop even before it is released

Ever since the trailer of Aamir Khan’s much-awaited ‘Laal Singh Chaddha’ has been released, there have been witnessed multiple controversies around the movie. The movie has reminded people of Aamir Khan’s controversial statements made in the past and the few anti-India steps taken by him during the shoot of the movie. Thus, a few days ahead of its release, angry netizens stepped in calling for a boycott of the film.

#BoycottLaalSinghChaddha trending on Twitter

Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan Starrer Laal Singh Chaddha is all set to release on August 11, 2022. Netizens have been after the movie ever since its trailer was revealed. They are widely using #BoycottLaalSinghChaddha to urge people to not watch this movie in cinema theatres.

Mind you, it is not the first time that such uproar has begun against the movie. It was also in the month of May when people came out asking to boycott the film.

For those unversed, Laal Singh Chaddha is the official remake of Oscar-winning movie Forrest Gump, which was released 28 years ago on July 6th, 1994.

Why people are up in arms against Laal Singh Chaddha?

Here arises the question, why are the netizens angry with the upcoming movie? Why are they protesting against the movie and calling for its boycott? Well, there are many reasons for that. The social media users have dug up the actor’s controversial statements which he made a few years ago. His co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan also stirred controversy due to her past statement.

In 2015, Aamir was caught up in controversies due to his demeaning remark on India’s “growing intolerance”. Back then, he had stated that “Our country is very tolerant, but there are people who spread ill-will.” His ex-wife and filmmaker Kiran Rao, was also slammed as she had commented that she would consider leaving the country for the safety of their children.

Another issue with the star cast is that it includes Kareena Kapoor who reeks of arrogance. She blamed the audience during the nepotism debate and arrogantly said, “Aap jaa re ho na film dekhne? Mat jao. Nobody has forced you.” Not only that but when the Bollywood actor was in Turkey, to finish the shooting of his movie ‘Lal Singh Chaddha’, he met the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s wife Emine Erdogan on India’s Independence Day. It had drawn the ire of Indians from all quarters.

This came when Turkey was increasingly becoming a radical and Islamist country and interfering more and more into India’s internal matters.

Laal Singh Chaddha will be highly political

While Forrest Gump was high on conservative values, Aamir Khan’s Forrest Gump will be a disaster. He could have easily picked a character based on his own religion or any other minority community, but his head would have been on the spike for it in no time. So, he settled with a Sardar.

While Forrest Gump showed the US army in a bad light, Aamir Khan will be doing the same with the Indian army. You cannot expect Aamir Khan to understand the difference between both armies, right?

Aamir Khan, for the person he is, is surely going to depict the India – Pakistan War the same as the US-Vietnam one. Mind you, India-Pakistan War can never be compared with the stupidest war ever fought, that is, the US-Vietnam War. So, the movie will be highly political in nature and is anyways going to be a subject of criticism for many.

However, with these trends on Twitter to boycott the film, it seems that the film is a flop even before its release.
