Dynasty Mukt Bharat will soon be a reality

Dynasty politics

Dynasty politics has always existed in Indian polity be it in the Parliamentary or state elections. The world’s largest democracy has witnessed the ruling of the “Gandhi” dynasty politics for nearly 70 years. Even today, their legacy can be observed, in spite of the family not being in power. It’s time for India to stop the continuous existence of dynasty politics. The same can be seen with BJP laying grounds for revising the rules for the Indian political setup.

Dynasty politics a danger to politics of India

With the imminent arrival of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, BJP is trying to expand its roots in the states it has little to no presence. Though these states are less in number, the BJP is very serious about them. For this, the party has scheduled a meeting in Hyderabad with a focus on southern states and a message of “Dynasty Mukt Bharat”.

The National Executive will be a three-day meeting, which will include a meeting of general secretaries on Friday and one by office-bearers on Saturday morning. Apart from this, there will be discussions on the political and economic agenda of the party. The conclave will conclude with a public address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which will be held at Parade Grounds, Secunderabad.

Highlighting dynasty politics as a threat to democracy, a senior BJP leader remarked that it’s the “root cause of corruption and misgovernance.” He also hinted that the BJP’s focus for general elections will be the Southern states where the party is yet to expand its electoral gains.

Why is “Hyderabad” the destination for the BJP conclave?

The BJP’s selection of Hyderabad as the place for the party meeting carries a huge significance with respect to its goal of expanding in the Southern states of the country.

Underlining the governance of K. Chandrashekar Rao in Telangana, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, the BJP chief for the state said, “The BJP wanted to expose the corruption, misgovernance, and harassment politics” of Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) government in the state. He also remarked that that the “BJP workers have faced police atrocities and have been framed in fake cases” in Telangana.

BJP always wanted India to be free from “Dynasty Politics”

This is not the first time that the BJP has highlighted Dynasty politics as a threat hovering over politics of India. During the 42nd Foundation day of BJP, PM Modi observed the existence of two kinds of politics. He said, “There are still two kinds of politics going on in this country. One is the politics of family devotion and the other is committed to patriotism.” He also mentioned about the dynasty government members who work only for the interest of their family. “Such family parties have never allowed the youth of this country to progress.”

From its inception, the BJP has always been pitching for the regulation of Dynasty Politics. From the Gandhi family reserving the throne for themselves in past to the emergence of Thackerays’ in Maharashtra, the BJP is trying to curtail this age-old phenomenon. And the results are not too far to visualize.

Apparently, almost half of the Indian states face the existence of local dynasty politics. This has to be changed for the development of the world’s largest democracy. BJP’s “One party one ticket” initiative was a move toward the elimination of the same. And now, it’s the need of the hour to implement this narrative for more improvement in the functioning of the Indian Democracy.
