Cricketer and current captain of the Namibia cricket team, Gerhard Erasmus was born in Namibia on April 11, 1995, in Windhoek, Namibia. He is a right-handed batsman and among the highest scorers on his team. Career

Gerhard Erasmus was selected for the Namibia Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Australia in 2012. At the 2014 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, he served as team captain.

Erasmus was included in Namibia’s team for the 2018 ICC World Cricket League Division Two competition in January 2018. He was included in Namibia’s team for the 2018 Africa T20 Cup in August of that year.

Erasmus was chosen to lead Namibia’s team in the 2019 ICC World Cricket League Division Two competition in March 2019. He broke a finger while fielding in a pre-tournament warm-up game against Scotland. Despite the injuries, he made the decision to participate in the event and serve as team captain.

Erasmus made his ODI debut in March 2022, going 121 not out in the second game of the United Arab Emirates Tri-Nation Series. In the second game against Uganda the following month, Erasmus also recorded his first century in T20I cricket, going unbeaten at 100.

In February 2011, when Gerhard Erasmus was 15 years old, Erasmus made his senior debut for Namibia against a visiting Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) team. At age 16, he became the youngest player in the team’s history when he made his first-class and international debuts for Namibia against Ireland in September 2011 during the 2011–2013 ICC Intercontinental Cup.

He was selected for Namibia’s team to compete in the ICC World Twenty20 qualifier in 2012.
