From border challenges to internal political conflicts, the state we love to call Punjab has been in the news headlines every now and then. This time, its stinging puppet politics is moving towards a shattered Punjab.
The new advisory committee of Punjab
On July 11, 2022, the Punjab government-appointed Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha, as the chairman of a temporary advisory committee of the state. As per the Chief Minister’s office, Raghav Chadha will be taking care of the “conception and implementation of pro-people initiatives of the AAP government in Punjab and advice the government on matters of finance.”
Another notification issued by Chief Secretary Vijay Kumar Janjua said that the advisory committee chairperson and its members will not be entitled to any compensation or remuneration.
In a statement, the CM’s office also remarked that Raghav Chadha will be an asset to the state of Punjab, and he will take the state to greater heights with his political acumen. Mr Chadha is a Chartered Accountant (CA) and has worked with some of the biggest corporate firms in the world. He has also served as Financial Advisor to Delhi Finance Minister Manish Sisodia. The statement added, “His strenuous efforts helped in making Delhi a Revenue surplus state and thereby putting it on the trajectory of high economic growth.”
In an attempt to connect the people of Punjab with the newly appointed head of the advisory committee, the CM’s office said that Raghav Chadha has always been connected with his root state, Punjab. According to AAP, he has always “acted as a catalyst in revamping Delhi’s Punjabi Academy thereby promoting the Punjabi language and culture in the national capital.”
Bhagwant Mann needs a back support
Punjab is a border state currently facing a drug addiction crisis. Additionally, Pakistan’s attempts to revive terrorism in Punjab are also a looming tension surrounding the state. Amid all these, it was a need for Punjab to elect a Chief Minister with loads of administrative experience. However, Bhagwant Mann clearly seems to think that he alone will not be able to handle the situation.
Apparently, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) realized this after months of his tenure. The party realized the need to formulate an advisory committee for Punjab that will help Bhagwant Mann to stay in power.
Raghav Chadha, a backhand coder for Punjab
CA Raghav Chadha is a well-known loyalist of Arvind Kejriwal. He has been serving the Aam Aadmi Party since a very young age. Thus, Kejriwal holds years of trust resulting in assurity for AAP that Chadha will not betray them.
To put it simply, Raghav Chadha is appointed to guide Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, in governing the crucial state of India. The former will be acting as a backhand coder for the state of Punjab, wherein all the decisions and directives will be a culmination of his mind but will be represented by the Chief Minister.

Raghav Chadha is not a threat
By and large, Aam Aadmi Party includes brilliant faces of party loyalists who carry the capability of working on the directives of the head of the party. And due to this reason, Kejriwal sent his most loyal messenger to represent his input while showcasing Mann’s output.
Though the party includes an astute journalist turned politician Manish Sisodia, who has the ability to represent the party, the building of his unique identity as a politician is a danger to the supremacy of Kejriwal. And thus, the party leader chose the Raghav as the head of the advisory committee of Punjab.
The appointment of Raghav Chadha as a secret Chief Minister will bring a sigh of relief to Arvind Kejriwal. After all, Raghav possesses the ability which could make him eligible for AAP Supremo, but he has not shown any intention of dethroning Kejriwal.
