The monster that Aam Aadmi Party was nurturing has now come back to bite them

Khalistani AAP

You never know when the rat race of appeasement and secessionist politics becomes a recipe for disaster. During the Punjab state assembly elections, the Aam Aadmi Party tried every formula to woo the voters and clinch a maiden victory in Punjab. For that, in open it refrained from condemning the abhorrent secessionist ideology and behind closed doors it mollycoddled with Pro-Khalistani elements. But as they say ‘you can’t keep snakes in your backyard and expect them only to bite others’. The Khalistani frankenstein monster that AAP courted to win the election has given it a humiliating defeat.

NO! You can’t do this to me

The bypoll result of Sangrur must be a wake up call for the AAP party. The party which is trying to aggressively make inroads in new political frontiers has got a taste of reality. It has been completely wiped out from the Lok Sabha. Its lone Member of Parliament Bhagwant Mann vacated his Sangrur seat after taking oath as Punjab CM. It made tall claims and projections of Sangrur as their bastion.

The bubble got busted when the party suffered a humiliating defeat in the bypolls resulting in its route from the Lok Sabha. Its attempt to court Khalistani sentiments were outdone by a more radical Khalistani supporter Simranjit Singh Mann. The AAP candidate Gurmail Singh suffered defeat at the hands of Shiromani Akali Dal (Amritsar) (SAD-A) President Simranjit Mann. Mann defeated his AAP candidate by a margin of over 5,800 votes from the Sangrur seat.

Bad Omen for a Dangerous time to come?

After the victory, SAD-A Supremo and MLA-elect Simranjit Singh Mann addressed the media and openly made abhorrent statements. He invoked the Khalistani Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, deceased Deep Sidhu who was accused for Red Fort rampage and Sidhu Moose wala. He spewed venom at the Indian Armed forces and made several propaganda soaked obnoxious statements.

He said, “It’s a win of our party workers and of the teachings that Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale has given. The Sikh community is very upset with the death of Deep Singh Sidhu and Sidhu Moose Wala and now the Indian government will not behave in the same way that it is behaving with the Muslims, like their localities are being questioned, like the Indian Army is committing atrocities in Kashmir and killing Muslims on a daily basis.”

The Twitter bio of the democratically elected Member of Parliament Simranjit Singh Mann says, “striving for #Khalistan (sovereign state for Sikhs)”.

So, Who is Simranjit Singh Mann?

Simranjit Singh Mann joined the Indian Police Service in 1967 and held various posts including superintendent of police (Vigilance), SP (Headquarters), senior superintendent of police (SSP), Ferozepur; SSP Faridkot and group commandant of Central Industrial Security Force.

He resigned from the IPS in 1984 following Operation Bluestar which was launched to wipe out the armed Khalistani terrorists hiding in the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. On 6th June every year, Mann gathers his supporters inside the sacred Golden temple and raises Khalistani slogans. The 77-year-old Pro-Khalistani leader is dubbed ‘Budda Jarnail’ by some of his critics.

He has been incessantly spewing venom against the Indian state and referring India as – “THIS” – Theocratic Hindu Indian State. He has been cheerleading against India on multiple occasions. He is one of those bigoted politicians who are trying to create a wedge of hatred between blood-brothers – Hindus and Sikhs. For example the leader provokes the sentiments of Sikhs and ingrain hatred in them by blaming Hindus for the Sikh genocide in 1984. In reality, the perpetrators of that horrendous crime were linked to a party named Congress.

By going through his twitter profile, one definite conclusion comes out that the Khalistani menace is not a myth but a harsh reality which needs to be strictly dealt with or the gory days of past may not be very far away. As aforementioned things got this bad not in a day but because of pathetic power hunger trumping national security and integrity. To gain power, AAP strengthened the dead and buried secessionist Khalistan ideology. This win for the Khalistani leader Simranjit Mann should ring bells for the AAP. As the game of fire is not good for anyone in the long run, not for them and definitely not for India. So resist the urge for short term gain and deal with secession as it should be.
