The main accused of the Kerala gold scam goes missing moments after a big revelation was made

Kerala gold scam

In Politics and Crime, coincidences are rare. These coincidences have logical dots to connect them together. As, once someone has committed a crime, he/she commits many more criminal acts in hope of getting away from the law. This seems to be happening in the Southern state of Kerala where the communists are caught in their own cobweb of lies and crimes. The diplomatic gold scam has snowballed. Now it has the potential to engulf the Kerala government and its CM.

Coincidence or a Sinister Plan at work?

Have you ever noticed that after many alleged crimes, ‘coincidentally’ the CCTV footage goes missing, or the CCTV itself has malfunctioned? This is just one example of many such ‘coincidental’ or connected crimes. Evidently, a similar kind of thing happened yesterday on 8th June. Swapna Suresh, one of  the main accused in the Kerala Gold scam,  alleged that the co-accused PS Sarith was abducted from her home. This comes after her revelations against the Kerala CM in the Gold scam.

She claimed that a four-member-gang abducted Sarith from her house. Swapna added that all of them posed as Vigilance officers but none of them showed any identity card.

She alleged that the kidnapping occurred minutes after her ‘tell all press conference’ against the Kerala government. She said, “Earlier you asked what the threat was. Now it is no longer threats, the attacks have started. HRDS India staff Sarith has been forcefully kidnapped from my home by 3-4 unknown people.”

Further she highlighted that the communist government is rattled by her expose and Sarith’s alleged kidnapping indirectly reflects their involvement in the gold scam. She said, “They have started their attacks. I spoke little and they are already frightened. This is a sign of that. They are confessing their involvement through such dirty tactics”.

When the journalists asked her about reports claiming that Sarith was picked up by Vigilance officials of the Kerala government, she replied that her lawyers will file a habeas corpus petition, to ensure Sarith’s release.

What led to this alleged kidnapping of PS Sarith?

A day earlier, Swapna Suresh alleged that the Kerala CM was involved in the Gold smuggling case. She told the media that a baggage containing currency was sent to CM Vijayan. Allegedly this happened when the Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan was in Dubai in 2016. The scam was detected when the bag full of currency was scanned as part of the consulate’s protocol.

She also claimed that biryani vessels with unusual weight containing heavy metals were taken from the consulate general’s house to the Kerala CM’s official residence, Cliff House. According to her, all of this was done on the instructions of Sivasankar, former principal secretary of CM Vijayan.

While talking to the media, she added that she had recorded her secret statement known as a ‘164 statement’, before a Judicial First Class Magistrate Court. In her recorded statement she claimed that she disclosed the involvement of CM Pinarayi, his wife Kamala, daughter Veena and bureaucrats associated with the Chief Minister including his principal secretary M Sivasankar.

Timeline of the Gold smuggling case and arrests

Rs 15 crore worth of gold were seized from the diplomatic baggage of the UAE Consulate at Thiruvananthapuram airport on July 5, 2020. After that, the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Customs conducted probes to bust the Gold smuggling rackets behind this. Following which, the NIA arrested Swapna Suresh, a former employee of the UAE Consulate along with another accused Sandeep Nair in July 2020. Other prominent arrests in the case includes M Sivasankar, the former Principal Secretary to CM Pinarayi Vijayan and PS Sarith too were arrested in connection with the case.

However smart the criminals may be, they will eventually get caught. So, it is high time for them to realise that such ‘coincidences’ will be logically connected. After which, all the big names who committed this crime will eventually face the music of law.
