Asaduddin Owaisi is a ubiquitous politician who knows of everything under the sun and can crop a minority angle out of it. If you go by the surface trend, a falsified perception may be formed. A perception that he is a national level politician, who can impact the political landscape in any state and region. But the fact of the matter is that he is just a regional politician who has influence on some pockets of Hyderabad and a few other states.
AIMIM MLAs trash the party
When every eye was glued on the political developments in Maharashtra, Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) gave a sound thrashing to the AIMIM. It subsumed the four of the five MLAs of the AIMIM within the party. The new inductees increased the RJD’s tally to a total of 79 assembly seats. With these four new additions, it overtook the BJP, making it the single largest party in Bihar assembly. The four MLAs that ditched Owaisi’s party are Shahnawaz, Izhar, Anjar Nayani and Syed Rukundin. Only the post holder state President Akhtarul Iman remained in the AIMIM.

According to the news reports, all the MLAs of AIMIM had been mulling over this idea for a very long time. It got a new fervour when the AIMIM suffered a humiliation in the UP state assembly. The results of the UP and other state elections made them fear about their political futures. The party had failed to even make inroads in Muslim dominated areas, and a miniscule amount voters from the Muslim community even cast their vote in its favour.

The MLAs contemplated their future loss if they remained within the party and decided to ditch Asaduddin Owaisi simultaneously.
After all it was all just a fluke
It is said that in the fog of the war, truth is the first victim. So a proper analysis of any event should be done after a certain interval of time has passed and a pattern is observed. Evidently, the Bihar 2020 assembly election was being projected as an approval of the communal politics of Asaduddin Owaisi. The All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) party managed to chip away 5 assembly seats from the two frontrunner coalitions of BJP and RJD. This gave a false perception that the party has made a stronghold in the Muslim dominated areas of Bihar, and would soon replicate it in other adjoining states.
AIMIM, the party which was on cloud nine after the Bihar elections soon came to realise that it was just a fluke and a combination of some local factors and local politicians, who managed to win their respective seats, in individual capacity. The party suffered defeats in every election after that and in many cases it registered fewer votes than the NOTA.
This jolt to the AIMIM party should be a wakeup call for the AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi. He should stop sermonising on each and every issue, and should work on strengthening his party in minor pockets where it has some influence. Earlier, he used to flash the Bihar card, to showcase his dynamic politics at the National level. But that too has badly backfired and will be a reason for his mockery if he pulls Bihar card again.
