India’s request to take down Zubairs and Werlemans off Twitter won’t work, there needs to be a decree

What is the most destructive weapon in today’s World? The answer is Misinformation, distortion and fake news. It is said that while truth is just putting on its shoes, falsehood has travelled the whole world in the meantime. Fake news has in the past led to Anti-Hindu riots in Delhi and other places. Additionally, the narrative war against India has gone beyond the traditional boundaries of the nation. So, it is important to act tough against fake news peddlers rather than just ‘exposing’ such nexus.

A rap on the knuckles

In a so-called action against fake news peddlers, twitter has withheld the account of CJ Werleman in India. Additionally, it has sent an e-mail to Mohd Zubair in response to the request of the Government of India to suspend his account permanently. According to the mail, the Indian government has asked twitter citing that the account has violated several laws of India. These actions seem to be a rap on the knuckle rather than action on fake news, propaganda and spreading hatred against the majority Hindu community.

Nexus working against the interest of India

For a long time, India has witnessed many criminal nexuses working to vitiate the atmosphere in the country. For that, they distort all the news to paint an imaginary gory situation. Through this they want to give an impression in which the ruling government is doing unspeakable atrocities against the Muslim community.

At the same time they try to give illogical cover fire to the extremist radicals creating havoc on roads and for those who hurt Hindu sentiments and demean Hindu deities.

The prominent person in this nexus is the so-called fact checker Mohd Zubair.

Earlier, courts too have highlighted the biases of these sites and their double standards.

There cannot be a more feeble response of the government than this. Being a democratically appointed government it is their duty to uphold the interest of the nation not the twitter or any other social media sites. It has to act tough against these handles and social media sites who have an inherent political and anti-India bias.

Sovereign governments enforce law and order by acting tough against social miscreants not by letting them away every time. They have already done enough damage to the country. These handles spreading fake news should not get away this easily instead should be booked under relevant Indian laws and put behind bars. Additionally, the government must pass orders to these sites to strictly comply with Indian laws and the directions of Indian law enforcing agencies.
