India’s digital surgical strike on Pakistan

Pakistan Twitter accounts

India has always maintained a history of retaliation against Pakistan. The 2016 surgical strike by India on the Pakistani camps at POK was one such vengeance. Its glimpses are still fresh for the world to remember. Another such strike is out in the open but this time it is digital, though with the same aim of weakening the terrorist propaganda.

India banning Twitter accounts of Pakistan

Recently, Twitter India blocked several accounts of Pakistan, including over 80 links and tweets. All these Twitter accounts belong to the Pakistan government. Apart from this, Twitter India has also banned accounts of Pakistan Embassies in the UN, Turkey, Iran, and Egypt and the nation’s public broadcaster, Radio Pakistan.

The move came after the Indian Ministry of Information and Broadcasting had earlier blocked 16 YouTube news videos. Among them, six were Pakistan-based channels with the notion of spreading misinformation against India’s national security, foreign relations, and public order.

According to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the blocked YouTube channels were spreading misleading information to create panic and infuriating people by flaming disharmony in India.

Pakistan has always maintained its history of inflaming Indian citizens. The continuous negative efforts of the Islamist country against India have time and again resulted in its own loss. The country’s own politics is under despondency. It’s time for the country to reflect on its own attempts towards escalating terrorism. Because, at any cost, Pakistan cannot continue to encourage terrorism in its neighbourhood anymore.

Tracking the previous digital attacks of India over Pakistan

It’s not the first time that India has reciprocated the ill-formed attempts of Pakistan. India had earlier banned various YouTube channels, Twitter accounts, and content published for fueling the sentiments of the public.

In February 2021, the Indian government asked Twitter, the social media company to block 1178 accounts. It was believed that these Twitter accounts were operating in Pakistan.

In January 2022, The Government of India banned 35 YouTube channels and multiple social media and Twitter accounts for spreading fake news. Similar action was taken in December 2022, when 22 YouTube channels were blocked for proclaiming anti-India content.

In April 2022, India banned four more Pakistani YouTube channels for propagating fake and misleading information.

The problem of fake news is on a rise currently. The territory of Pakistan is filled with anti-India content. This is just to inflate the sentiments of the Indian masses and promote the belief in the terrorist country.

Pakistan is a country whose own politics is drowning but its priority has always been to inflict India through misleading arguments. Nevertheless, India, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi is not going to be the silent feature of the world. This is new India, which is very well familiar with the tactics of its neighbor.
