BJP all set to make inroads into SP bastions this LS bypolls

Party Samajwadi

Uttar Pradesh, the Hindi-heartland has been a bastion of two regional parties, Yadav clan’s Samajwadi Party and Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party. Both the political parties were founded on caste lines and they prospered encashing the same. Then, arrived the juggernaut of Lal Krishna Advani, that transformed the politics of Uttar Pradesh forever.

The legacy of Advani and Kalyan Singh has been revived and revamped by today’s BJP with CM Yogi Adityanath at the centre of the stage. After winning a consecutive term in the state, the saffron party is now all set to make inroads into the SP bastions and demolish the so-called fortresses.

Lok Sabha by-polls will go into history

The state of Uttar Pradesh is all set to witness another heated battle by the end of June. By-elections on three Lok Sabha and seven Assembly seats across six states will be held on June 23. In UP, the Lok Sabha by-polls will be held for two seats often referred to as the SP bastions; Azamgarh and Rampur. The seats have been vacated by Samajwadi party leaders Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan respectively after winning the assembly elections. The by-polls will help the poll panel fill up vacancies in the electoral college which elects the President of India.

The two Lok Sabha seats vacated have been bastions of the Samajwadi Party for decades. And this time, both the Samajwadi giants who had a hold over the constituency are devoting themselves to the legislative assembly. The selection of Samajwadi party candidates also signifies that the party is in no mood to contest.

Azamgarh- A Yadav stronghold

After registering a landslide victory in the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the most populous state of India, the Bhartiya Janata Party is all set to demolish the impregnable fortresses of the Samajwadi party this Lok Sabha bypolls, and the candidate selection stands in deposition for the same.

Bhartiya Janata Party’s man chosen to demolish the SP fortress is Bhojpuri singer and film star Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirhua’. While the Samajwadi party has fielded Akhilesh’s close aide and cousin Dharmendra Yadav, a former member of Parliament from Badaun. While the decision of BSP to field Shah Alam, a.k.a Guddu Jamali has raised eyebrows, as it seems that the BJP and BSP have joined hands to make Samajwadi Party bite the dust.

The SP stronghold, has a sizeable Muslim and Yadav population and the Samajwadi Party has banked on both for decades. The BJP has fielded a Yadav candidate that too a popular one at that eyeing the Yadav votes, while the BSP is all set to dent the Muslim votes of the Samajwadi Party.

Nirhua has already launched a high-octane campaign, which may see the support of two Bhojpuri giants Manoj Tiwari and Ravi Kishan, focusing on the tried and tested road of Akhilesh Yadav ‘abandoning’ the people of the constituency. The saffron party has plans to target Akhilesh’s inaccessibility to make inroads into the SP bastion. Azamgarh, hence is no more a “safe” seat for the Samajwadi Party to field the family members of the Yadavs.

Azam Khan bids goodbye to Rampur

An insider does the maximum damage and it appears that the BJP has understood this. Hence, the party has fielded a former acolyte of Azam Khan and a former SP MLC, Ghanshyam Lodhi. Whereas, the BSP has decided to not contest the Rampur seat, and the reasons have been not disclosed yet.

The Rampur seat is already a concern for the Samajwadi Party for not raising voice against the actions of the Yogi government on Azam Khan, thus impacting the trust among the loyal Muslim voters of the Samajwadi Party.

With all these equations adding up, the Bhartiya Janata Party is all set to snatch the impregnable fortresses of the Samajwadi Party this time with elan.
