Have you ever heard of the saying that says ‘a cat has nine lives’? It seems this also holds true for terrorists camped in Pakistan. A terrorist, who was earlier claimed to have died, has yet again resurfaced in the ‘terror’ sponsor nation. As usual the rumours of death were used as a garb to continue acts of terrorism. The news of ‘dead’ terrorist being alive comes in the wake of his arrest in acts of terrorism. It is both ironic and tragic at the same time. But it is on expected lines as it is just a routine affair in the ‘terror’ sponsoring nation, Pakistan.
‘Terrorists’ are not assets anymore
After facing humiliating defeats at the hands of India in several wars, Pakistan indulged in state sponsored terrorism. It may have gained sadistic pleasure on the tragic deaths in India at the hands of infiltrated terrorists. Other than that it achieved nothing.
In fact, Pakistan’s policies have taken it to a brink of economic collapse. Such is its condition that it is running on foreign alms. So it becomes important to take off the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) sword hanging on its neck to ease the economic situation.

According to reports of Nikkei Asia, Pakistan had arrested Sajid Mir to get off the “grey list” of the FATF, the international anti-terror finance watchdog. According to Indian intelligence agencies, his organisational abilities make him “the most dangerous man in Pakistan”, “more dangerous than all the rest put together”.
The move doesn’t come out of the blue. Pakistan was forced by several nations to show the proof of its obnoxious claim that Mir had died some time back. Succumbing to pressure it had to retract its falsehoods and arrest the LeT operative Sajid Mir, the key conspirator of the horrific 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks.

According to Pakistani news outlet Dawn, the terrorist Sajid Mir was sentenced by an anti-terrorism court in Lahore. The court in the first week of June had convicted him and announced a sentence of 15-and-a-half years jail time.
Though certain reports claim that Indian security agencies learnt about the arrest of Sajid Mir from multilateral channels as no official information has been received by India through bilateral channels.
Sajid Mir: Internationaly dreaded terrorist
Sajid Mir is also on the FBI list of most wanted terrorists. The FBI describes him as the “chief planner” of the Mumbai attacks. Mir deployed Headley in Mumbai to reconnaissance targets as early as 2006. He allegedly trained the 10 terrorists who arrived on the Mumbai coast. He gave them real-time instructions over the phone as the attack unfolded. Investigators have determined that it was Mir’s voice that instructed the terrorists through phone calls.
David Headley had named Sajid Mir in his court testimonies both in India and US. It is said that three years before the Mumbai attack, Mir crossed over to India via Wagah as a Pakistani Cricket fan and stayed for around 15 days. Indian officials believe that it was also a reconnaissance trip.

Mir also plotted bomb blasts in Sydney but thankfully the plot was foiled. The French judge, Jean Louis Brugiere, known as “the terrorist hunter” concluded from all the testimonies that Mir was a senior Pakistan Army officer, and was in the ISI. He also concluded a clear link between LeT, the Pakistan Army and ISI.
Dawood Ibrahim is not in Pakistan, Osama bin Laden was not in Pakistan, Sajid Mir was dead, Hafiz Saeed was put behind bars, these are some of the cruel jokes Pakistan has hatched against humanity. Pakistan, the nation sponsoring terrorism has to momentarily shun its own home grown terrorists in the wake of FATF sword lurking above its neck. With such actions it may fool the FATF, but it can never achieve good out of its terrorism policy.
