The ‘janta’ of Uttar Pradesh has been divided into vote-banks based on faulty caste lines courtesy of caste-politics, and the ones taking the juggernaut forward were the likes of Kanshiram and OP Rajbhar. Then erupted the ‘politics’ of Muslim appeasement, and Samajwadi Party excelled at that. However, the same janta of Uttar Pradesh has rejected the aforementioned style of politics, and the results of by-elections stand in deposition for the same.
BJP makes inroads into SP bastions
The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has snatched the ‘safe’ seats of Samajwadi party, as the candidates of the saffron party registered victory on both the seats, Azamgarh and Rampur. The contest becomes crucial as the Samajwadi party has not only lost its bastions but has received drubbing on Yadav’s home turf.
The two Lok Sabha seats won by the BJP, Azamgarh and Rampur were vacated by Akhilesh Yadav and Azam Khan respectively following their election to the state assembly. BJP fielded candidates under well calculated strategy and as per TFI’s prediction, the party has emerged victorious basing the same.
TFI Prediction comes true
As soon as the parties announced their candidates for the seats going into by-polls, we at TFI made a prediction, more apt to say a calculation and by solving the arithmetic, we elaborated how BJP is going to snatch the bastions of the Samajwadi Party easily.

Though Akhilesh Yadav did not launch his rath yatra for campaigning, he did field his cousin brother Dharmendra Yadav from Azamgarh. BJP, in a bid to influence the Yadav votes, fielded Dinesh Lal Yadav ‘Nirhua’.
On one side, the BJP was able to shift a major chunk of the Yadav votes denting the SP vote share, the BSP candidate further added to that. BSP candidate Shah Alam a.k.a Guddu Jamali decimated the M+Y combination of the Samajwadi’s, as the Muslims found their man next door Jamali more accessible the Yadav scion. Similar shift of voteshare was predicted by TFI earlier.
While BJP fielded an insider on the Rampur seat, to snach Azam Khan’s bastion, Akhilesh kept himself away from campaigning; he is being accused of serving the seat to the BJP on a gold platter for the same. BJP fielded a former SP MLC Ghanshyam Lodhi, who won the Rampur seat with a margin of more than 40,000 votes and defeated Asim Raja of Samajwadi party.
The battle in Rampur was a two-way contests and the democracy of Rampur stands as; 55 per cent Muslim and 42 per cent Hindu population. Yet, the SP candidate, considered as a close associate of Azam Khan failed to consolidate Muslim votes in Azam Khan’s bastion. This not only proves weakening hold of Azam Khan amongst the Muslim population but also the disconnection of Muslims from Samajwadi and the shift of fence-sitters into BJP camp.
