Rajat Kapoor is a Hindi cinema actor, screenwriter, and director. Rajat was born in New Delhi, India, on February 11, 1961. He’s renowned for his roles in Ankhon Dekhi (2013), Raghu Romeo (2003), and Kapoor & Sons (2016). His brother Rajneesh Kapoor is a stand-up comedian and collaborates with comedians like Ranvir Shorey, Vinay Pathak, and Saurabh Shukla. Career

Rajat Kapoor made his debut in Kumar Shahani’s film Khayal Gatha in 1989. He began writing and directing shots later on. Private Detective: Two Plus Two Plus One was his directorial debut (1997). Kapoor’s huge mainstream debut came in 2001 with Dil Chahta Hai, in which he played Preity Zinta’s uncle. In Mira Nair’s Monsoon Wedding, he earned international notice.

Since then, he’s written, directed, and starred in a number of critically praised films, including Corporate, Bheja Fry, Siddharth: The Prisoner, Iti Mrinilani (Bengali Film), and Muhammad Ali Jinnah in the BBC’s The Last Days of the Raj in 2007.

He wrote and directed Raghu Romeo, an independent film that received the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi in 2003. Kapoor has won two more National Awards, the first for Tarana, a non-feature documentary, and the second for Hypnothesis, a short film.

Kapoor was born in the Indian city of Delhi. Initially, he concentrated on acting. He joined the Delhi-based theatrical company Chingari in 2013, before going to Pune to study at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII).

Rajat Kapoor married Meenal Agarwal in 1996 and they have two kids, Rabia and Vivan. His wife is a photographer-production designer.

During the Me Too movement in October 2018, Kapoor was accused of sexual harassment by two women, for which he apologized. Due to the claims, his film Kadakh was pulled from the 20th MAMI Film Festival.
