V Muraleedharan destroys Western nations in his speech at UN

The World has enough for everyone’s needs, but not everyone’s greed. India has been following this mantra and is walking the path of sustainable development. But the West, which is a nexus of profit-oriented, self-centred, rich, egotistic greedy nations, tried to lecture India about our stand on various issues. These unwanted and unwarranted sermons of the West have been shredded into pieces and thrown into the trashcan where they actually belong.

West’s hypocrisy called off

The Minister of State for External Affairs V Muraleedharan addressed the United Nations ‘Global Food Security Call to Action’ ministerial gathering. During his address, he pointed out how some nations are struggling with high prices and the unavailability of food grains. He also brought to the fore how some nations like India, even after having adequate stocks, are seeing unjustified high prices. For that, he called out the stocking and hoarding that some players are doing. He said, “A number of low-income societies are today confronted with the twin challenges of rising costs and difficulty in access to food grains. Even those like India, who have adequate stocks, have seen an unjustified increase in food prices. It is clear that hoarding and speculation is at work. We cannot allow this to pass unchallenged”.

Further, he cleared the distortions or misinformation about the 13th May wheat export decision by India and assured that the food security of the vulnerable countries will be properly mitigated. He said,” My government has recognized the sudden spike in global prices of wheat which put our food security and those of our neighbours and other vulnerable countries at risk. We are committed to ensuring that such adverse impact on food security is effectively mitigated, and the vulnerable cushioned against sudden changes in the global market. In order to manage our own overall food security, and support the needs of neighbouring and other vulnerable developing countries, we have announced some measures regarding wheat exports on 13 May 2022.”

He called out the hypocrisy of the West that had been giving moral dictations to India. He boldly thrashed the West and said that whatever happened with vaccinations during the Covid crisis should not repeat with the food security crisis. Furthermore, he outlined how India helped many nations in Africa and in neighbourhoods like Afghanistan, Sri Lanka and Myanmar by granting aid like wheat, rice, pulses and lentils.

India: A Power that World desperately needs

India has been a responsible power that has always stood up for poor and needy nations in times of crisis. Contrary to us, most of the Western nations stockpiled vaccines for themselves. They shamefully blocked patent waivers that India and South Africa had moved to mitigate the corona crisis. That move alone would have opened opportunities for developing and under-developed nations, especially in Africa, to get COVID jabs at a faster pace and at affordable prices. Moreover, India selflessly helped many nations and timely exported medicines, vaccines and medical equipment.

It seems that the West has made it a habit to get diplomatic scolding from India. Earlier, the West tried to lecture India on our energy basket, which was shredded by S Jaishankar. He exposed the West’s hypocrisy on oil imports and said, “India probably buys less oil from Russia in a month than what Europe does in the afternoon.”

The West has to realise that it doesn’t have a moral high ground to lecture anyone let alone India which represents nearly 1/6th of the global population. India has always worked thinking on the motto of Vasudeva Kutumbakam. India will keep helping the needy nations and if the West tries to hinder it, it will get its fair share of diplomatic slaps just like the ones Indians have been giving recently.
