UNSC just confirmed about Tehreek-e-Taliban what we knew all along

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan

There have been multiple occasions when TFI has predicted something and it actually happened. Now, another one of our predictions has turned out to be the truth. Moreover, UNSC has also confirmed the threat to Pakistan which we knew all along.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan threat to Pakistan: UNSC report

A United Nations Security Council report recently informed about the persistent threat that the Afghanistan-based Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) is for Pakistan. UNSC, as per media reports, warned that the chances of success of the ongoing peace process with the dreaded terror group were bleak.

The annual report of the team monitoring 1988 Taliban sanctions committee warned about linkages of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan with the Afghan Taliban. The report also explained how the group benefitted “from the fall of the Ghani regime last year and touched upon its relations with other terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan.”

The banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, had up to 4,000 fighters based in east and south-east areas along the Afghanistan-Pakistan border.  The report primarily focused on the Taliban’s internal politics, its finances, relations with Al-Qaeda, Daesh, and other terrorist groups, and the implementation of the UNSC sanctions.

The report’s launch took place when the third round of talks started between the Pakistan government and Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan started.

Pakistan created a Frankenstein’s monster

The Taliban has been created and recreated by Pakistan. Throughout the 1990s, the Pakistan Army and the Inter-services Intelligence (ISI) were instrumental in creating and training the Taliban. When the Taliban overran Afghanistan in 1996, Pakistan was only one of three nations to recognise the Taliban regime.

Even when the US was fighting a war against the Taliban, Pakistan dishonestly misappropriated American aid and use it for empowering the Taliban itself.

There are two broad factions in the Taliban- the Mullah Baradar faction and the Haqqani Network. Of the two, the Haqqanis enjoy Pakistan’s clear patronage.

The Haqqanis are very close to the Pakistani security establishment and the Inter-services Intelligence, known as the ISI, which serves as Pakistan’s external intelligence agency.

The Taliban remains a Pashtun first organisation and considers the Pashtun brotherhood more important than the Islamist fraternity with Pakistan.

Pakistan itself has a strong Pashtun population in the erstwhile North-West Frontier Province (NWFP), which today encompasses Pakistani provinces like Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) controls the Pashtun area in Pakistan and wants to establish a separate Pashtun State following the Shariah law. This effectively translates into severing the Pashtun-majority territory of Pakistan.

Ever since the formation of Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan in 2007, it has launched multiple deadliest attacks on Pakistani soil, targeting political leaders, civilians, and security forces through continuous suicide bombings, improvised explosive device attacks, and targeted killings.

The Pakistani Taliban is working overtime to ensure that it regains all territories in northwest Pakistan that it has lost since 2014, and that is no good news for the Pakistani establishment.

Given the internal politics and Taliban’s ‘ambitions’ to regain all terrorists in northwest Pakistan, it was obvious that Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan will launch the war against Pakistan itself. UNSC has informed nothing new but what we had told earlier.
