Remember when the Bollywood cabal was on the tenterhooks as the CBI was increasingly inching closer to completely expose the bigwigs of the industry? Jaya Bachchan had gone completely berserk after Ravi Kishan raised the issue of drug addiction in the industry. She even hit out at Ravi Kishan calling him a “Thaali mein Chhed”.
Jaya Bachchan, of course, was wrong for slamming an actor who only spoke the truth. However, we have the real “Thaali mein Chhed”. He is Aam Aadmi Party’s ‘guy’. The one who positioned himself as the messiah of the poor during the pandemic, but was later found to be involved in tax evasion worth more than 20 crore rupees and many other financial crimes like bogus billing, violation and Foreign Exchange regulation act, and so on.
Sonu Sood is the “Thaali mein Chhed” guy
Actor Sonu Sood has stepped in to criticise the industry that made him a superstar. He has begun spewing venom about the Bollywood industry saying that south Indian films save him from doing ‘bad Hindi films’. Sonu is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Samrat Prithviraj. He will be seen portraying the character of poet Chand Bardai in the film featuring Akshay Kumar in the titular role of king Prithviraj.
While interacting with the media, Sonu stated, “I have always been choosy with my scripts, whether I do Tamil, Telugu or Hindi films. South saves me from not doing bad Hindi films. Otherwise, there comes a phase when you think you’re doing a film just for the sake of being seen in a big film. South helps me from staying away from doing that.”
While it is true that Sonu started his career in films with Tamil films Kallazhagar and Nenjinile in 1999, it must be mentioned that it is the Hindi film industry that led him to touch the milestone of success. It is the Bollywood film industry that made him witness what pan-India success is. From Dabangg to Simmba, from Jodhaa Akbar to R Rajkumar, the success of these films created a massive fan following for Sonu Sood.
Despite this, the actor has the audacity to criticise Bollywood. While Bollywood is no messiah but it is wrong on the actor’s part to demean the industry that made him what he is today.
Sonu Sood conned in the name of charity
Sonu Sood arranged buses, trains, and even flights to take hundreds of migrants, stranded and helpless in the lockdown, to their home state. During the second wave earlier this year, he organised oxygen for Covid patients. Sonu Sood also runs an NGO called Sood Charity Foundation. According to its website, the NGO works in sectors like providing state-of-the-art healthcare, education, employment, and technology advancements.

However, it seems that the social work done by Sonu Sood was, in fact, an effort by the man to deflect attention from his purported criminalities and build a network of supporters for himself, who would fanatically support him no matter what he is accused of. Sonu Sood knew that for his alleged illegal activities, the law would soon catch up with him.
When Jaya Bachchan called Ravi Kishan “Thaali me Chhed”
Ravi Kishan on the floor of the parliament had raised the issue of drug abuse in the film industry as he stated, “Drug addiction is in the film industry too. Several people have been apprehended. The NCB has been doing very good work. I urge the central government to take strict action against the culprits soon. Give them a befitting punishment and bring an end to this conspiracy by neighbouring countries.”
Jaya Bachchan’s conscience was absent as she remained silent during the tragic demise of Sushant Singh Rajput. She remained silent when her favourite industry chose to smear the image of Sushant who is no longer with us to defend himself. Of course, she remained silent when Kangana was hounded and vilified, her office demolished for the crime of speaking up.
But, soon after Ravi Kishan spoke about the menace of drugs existing in the industry, Jaya Bachchan came out hitting out at the Bhojpuri Superstar. He said, “Just because of a few people, you cannot tarnish the whole industry… I was really embarrassed and ashamed that yesterday one our members in the Lok Sabha, who is from the industry, spoke against the film industry. Jis thaali me khaate hain usi me chched karte hain.”
Dear Jaya Bachchan, it is the right time for you to comment on what Sonu Sood said. What Ravi Kishan did was indeed raising their voice against a menace but what Sonu said is something that perfectly defines him as “Thaali mein Chhed.”
