Madrasas, Mazaars and Migrants – CM Dhami is out to weed out the 3Ms destroying Devbhoomi

No good has ever come out of appeasement politics. The appeasement politics opened floodgates for illegal Rohingya Muslim migrants and a whole lot of other illegal activities in Uttarakhand. The hilly state is home to Hindu holy shrines and is known for spiritual tourism, but it slowly started becoming a breeding ground for Rohingya Muslim migrants. This resulted in a strained atmosphere in the state. Thankfully, the Dhami government seems committed to weeding out these problems from Devbhoomi and strengthening the spiritual nature of the state.

The 3Ms rotting the Devbhoomi: Madrasas, Mazars and Rohingya Muslim Migrants

The hilly state has been witnessing a rapid rise of Islam. Unplanned and illegal Mazars are becoming abundant, encroaching on government, forest areas and common citizens’ property. Many political experts have termed it as a tool for land jihad. But the benevolent CM Dhami made it clear that the illegal Mazars cropping up in the state will not be spared. While responding to the questions about mushrooming of Mazars in the state, the CM said, “I am soft-spoken but when required I act tough. No illegal construction will be allowed and we will take required action.”

Further, the state has been carrying out an extensive identification drive to expel illegal Rohingyas Migrants from the state. As Rohingya Muslims have been responsible for creating nuisance in the state and have been involved in criminal nexus. Moreover, this illegal migration has been radically altering the demographic composition of the state. Hence, Rohingya Muslims without proper documentation will be driven out of the state after the identification drive and solve this radical problem plaguing the state.

Additionally, the state Minority minister Chandan Ram Das has constituted a committee to take action on illegally run Madrasas in the state. According to a news report, Das claims that 192 out of 425 Madrasas in the state get grants from the state. He said that those Madrasas which don’t have government recognition, their budget will be stopped. He also added that steps will be taken to get these Madrasas registered and then reformative steps like making the National Anthem mandatory in them will be taken.

Bold and Decisive CM Pushkar Singh Dhami

As they say, the power of vote should not be undermined. The people of Devbhoomi during the Uttarakhand assembly elections had two contrasting choices before them. On the one side, Congress left no chance of doing appeasement politics and made a poll promise of building Muslim Universities in the state. Contrastingly, the BJP CM Pushkar Singh Dhami made a bold call for Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and reclaiming the spiritual and peaceful character of the state. The people rightfully dumped the former and gave the latter a go-ahead to regain the state’s serene and spiritual identity.

After retaining power, CM Dhami has been taking bold and decisive steps to strengthen the people’s trust in him. He constituted an expert committee to implement the UCC in the state. Now the state government looks adamant about permanently solving the problems of three Ms plaguing the Devbhoomi. In a recent event organised by the weekly magazines of RSS, the CM was critical of the forced conversions and committed to stringent the current conversion laws in the state. He said that the state will bring “a more stringent anti-conversion law”.

The first step towards solving any problem is to properly recognise it. It is great to see that the Uttarakhand government at the very top understands the root cause of the problem and is focused to correct it on a war footing. The CM has been decisive and walked the talk on his election promises. Hence, these bold statements of his and his Minority ministers give great hope that these 3Ms in the state will be the things of the past and Devbhoomi will be back to its old glorious spiritual roots.
