The Bhartiya Janata Party is leading the nation presently. The states with a non-BJP government can easily be counted on one’s fingers. What is the reason behind the BJP’s expansion and being the most successful political party of today’s time? Well, it’s the organisational structure and the practice of never losing the track of ground reality. But the Bengal unit of the party seems to have ditched both of these basic ideals.

BJP MP gives the party ‘A Reality Check’
BJP Lok Sabha MP Arjun Singh has attracted eyeballs after he ‘exposed’ the status of the Bhartiya Janata Party in the state of West Bengal. The Barrackpore MP has communicated the status of party’s state unit to BJP national president JP Nadda.
Alleging that the leaders are only interested in social media politics; Singh said, “The state BJP wants to do politics on Facebook and WhatsApp. Ground-level work should be done by the party.”
He pointed out that the condition of the organization is not good in the state and said that, “Many people are of the same opinion, but no one is speaking up. I reported the matter at its own level.”
He suggested that the party should give the responsibility of the party to the people who are capable and deserving of it. He said, “Those who understand the organization should be given the responsibility. They should be given some power. The party has given us a chair, but it does not have legs. The party has given us a pen but it does not have ink.”
Arjun Singh: The man with opinion in Didi’s Bengal
Arjun Singh is the same leader who jumped the boats just before the 2019 elections. He switched sides over to the BJP from Mamata Banerjee’s Trinamool Congress. This is not the first time that Singh has gone guns blazing at the party. In May last year, Singh had questioned the silence of the party high-command on the alleged slaughtering of ground-level workers by goons in the aftermath of the West Bengal assembly elections.
He had then asked the state leaders to resign if they are incapable of protecting the workers, and had remarked, “I am a Sanatani Hindu and I am willing to sacrifice my life to serve my Dharma.” He had also raised concerns over the law and order situation, and had said, “If it carries on like this, has West Bengal separated from the Union of India? Pakistan has already been created?”
Is BJP serious about West Bengal?
The worrisome law and order situation of West Bengal is not hidden from anyone’s sight. Post-poll violence claimed several lives in the state after Mamata Banerjee got hold of the chair again. The series of violence know no punctuation in the eastern state, and the recent Birbhum bombing stands in submission for the same.

The people of West Bengal desperately need a political option other than the TMC and the sinking Left. The BJP could have emerged as the party which cares for the people in the state. However, BJP seems to be least interested in relieving the people of the state from the clutches of Didi and her alleged goons.
In the 2021 assembly elections, BJP witnessed a skyrocketing rise in its seat share. But, instead of fighting against the imposing rule of TMC, the BJP began to implode, as the internal differences were now surfacing in the public domain. Not just that, this also had the state unit’s functioning show a lacklustre attitude.
The Bhartiya Janata Party was registering a steady growth in the state of West Bengal. But the growth caught an evil eye very quickly. The party immediately after the polls left the workers to die, as it did not put out a hand of support for the workers who worked day and night for the establishment of the party’s base in the state. Now, the party leaders that are calling out the inefficiency are exposing the careless attitude of the leaders in the state towards the people.
BJP’s core vote banks in the state of West Bengal are the alienated Hindus who have become outcasts due to Mamata Banerjee’s Muslim appeasement politics. The party, with time, had gradually developed a bond with the aforementioned community. And, if the saffron-clad party wants to work for the betterment of the people of West Bengal, it’s high time they should step out on the roads, and at the least become the opposition they have promised prior to the polls.
