What does a person do who has lost all the hopes in life and has nothing productive to do? Well, he starts criticising each and everything even if it introduces them to something positive. An award-winning Indian filmmaker Satyajit Ray had once described the upper castes and upper classes in India as “Useless people, really”. How convenient, right?
Liberals however seem to blindly believe what he said. Thus, in their hatred towards Brahminism, they do not even spare things that have nothing to do with propaganda and rather are an attempt to spread positivity and happiness.
Panchayat Season 2 is one such attempt that has been made only to entertain the mass and introduce them to a real India with real people. Liberals being liberals overlooked all the messages that have been conveyed by the series. Why? Well, only to depict it as a depiction of Brahminism.
Liberals crying hoarse over the cast of Panchayat
Panchayat Season 2 is streaming on Amazon Prime and has gathered loved by millions across the country for its portrayal of village life in India. Hundreds of inspiring scenes and yet what the liberals ended up noticing – “a board hanging outside the local government office stating the names of the officials — they have the surnames Dubey, Tripathi, and Shukla — all Brahmins.”
With every new episode, there appeared a new story that keeps the audience glued to their couch, and yet the liberals ended up witnessing only one thing – “every episode shows another official with the surname Pandey, another Brahmin.”

Panchayat Season 2 that depicts a magnificent India has been reduced to “An adequate representation — of Brahmins” by the liberals.
The ‘cute’ liberals are crying hoarse and, for what? Because, the local office is controlled and dominated by Brahmin men. The liberals, for the person they are, overlooked the struggle of a city boy who had to unwillingly accept the job and was studying at night under the road light, only to set a narrative that he was an outsider to the rural area but from inside the Brahmin community.
Panchayat is casteist for liberals
Feminism India, a media portal, published an article titled “Panchayat Web Series: A Brahmin Cast And Crew Romanticises A Meritless All-Brahmin Local Government.” While the title suggests that is the review of Panchayat Season 2 web series, it was more about the depiction of Brahminism.

The article read, “All across the two seasons, the show continues to be based in a Brahmin world and perpetuates an infantilising, misinforming, sexist, casteist upper-caste urban gaze on rural India. The sheer apathy and obstinate paucity of accountability that Abhishek Tripathy has towards rural India is an exclusive characteristic of privileged surnames such as his.”
In order to set a narrative against Brahminism, the article attempts to convey the idea that if an individual from a lower caste would have entered Abhishek’s position, the other officials wouldn’t have supported him. It read, “Since the first day itself, all the Brahmin officials support Abhishek Tripathi in his work and invite him to hang out when he is low. One wonders what would have happened if an individual from a marginalised or minority community had entered Abhishek’s position.”
ScoopWhoop too published an article titled “While It’s Loved For Its View On Village Life, Panchayat Completely Ignores The Casteism Within It”. The article didn’t mention about the storyline, cast, direction and content. What it mentioned is only “Brahminism” as it suits its agenda.
Well, one surely needs to be a hate-monger of another level to write such hate articles for a light-hearted series web series like Panchayat Season 2. The best advice is to ignore these “banrakas” as hate-mongering is their only source of bread and butter.
