Maharashtra has now become the political battlefield of Hindutva politics. The formation of a government of three ideologically poles apart parties has almost brought developmental projects to a standstill but has accelerated the political fights. Moreover, Maharashtra, historically being the flag bearer of Hindutva, has recently seen a rise in appeasement politics. In opposition to such politics, BJP leader and former Chief Minister of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis has now become the flag bearer.
Not even Dog will Pee on the grave of Aurangzeb
During BJP’s Hindi Bhashi Mahasankalp Sabha in Mumbai, Devendra Fadnavis in his speech criticized Akbaruddin Owaisi’s visit to Aurangzeb’s tomb. Vouching to saffronize the country he said, “even dogs will not pee on the identity of Aurangzeb when Bhagwa will unfurl on the whole of Hindustan”.
Further questioning the inaction of Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray on the issue he said, “Asadudin Owaisi goes and pays tribute to Aurangzeb on his grave and you keep seeing that, you should feel ashamed of it”.

Eldest son of Shivaji, Sambhaji was tortured & executed by Aurangzeb
It is pertinent to mention that, recently AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi visited the tomb of Aurangzeb in Aurangabad (Maharashtra). The visit of a religious fanatic leader who killed lakhs of people for their beliefs is symbolic synchronization of his ideas.
Aurangzeb was the cruellest leader in the whole of the Mughal dynasty. Following the policy of bigoted Islamists, he executed his own brother in a war of succession.
The Marathas were challenging the Aurangzeb’s authority in the deccan region. After the 1687 war, Sambhaji and 25 of his advisors were captured by the Mughals. Upon his capture, Sambhaji was taken to Bahadurgad (present day Ahmednagar) where Aurangzeb tortured him and asked him to embrace Islam. Sambhaji had outrightly rejected the Mughal tyrant’s offer to convert. British historian Dennis Kincaid records how Sambhaji was further tortured and executed by the tyrant.

Devender Fadnavis leading the charge of Hindutva
Devender Fadnavis is leading the Hindutva beacon in Maharashtra single-handedly. Taking on the power politics of Uddhav Thackeray, he said “the Hindu Hriday Samrat Balasaheb Thackeray never compromised on Hindutva. Whereas Uddhav Thackery compromised Hindutva to retain the seat of power”.
Speaking against the arrest of independent MLA Ravi Rana and his MP wife Navneet Rana for chanting Hanuman Chalisa, Fadnavis said, “MLA and MP have been arrested under sedition charges for chanting Hanuman Chalisa and locked up in prisons. But when AIMIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi paid respect at Aurangzeb’s tomb, Uddhav Thackeray showed no courage to arrest him under sedition charges”.

It seems like by forming the government with the support of Congress and NCP, it has become difficult for Uddhav Thackeray to play his Hindutva politics and has further discovered his true character of allegiance to power. Jammed under the political ideology of NCP and Congress, Uddhav Thackeray is trying hard to change his anti-Hindu image that developed over time during his term as the CM.
Moreover, Fadnavis’s word-by-word exposition of the Uddhav Thackery act in government is giving a trailer for the next assembly of Maharashtra. With the Mumbai Municipal elections approaching, the war of words between political parties is on the rise. However, this is only a trailer of what’s to come when the state assembly elections approach.
