Congress’ ‘Chintan-Shivir’ is a sham

Chintan Shivir

It was only last month when we, at TFI, had explained the ‘cute’ process that the Congress Working Committee (CWC) adopts to make strategies for a revival of the aged-old Congress party. Now, we present you a yet another scamster process of hijacking the Congress party through ‘Chintan-Shivir’. Chintan Shivir It begins with the discussions to strategize the revival plans and ideas for upcoming elections but ironically, always ends up appointing a Gandhi as the Congress president.

Chintan Shivir wants Rahul Gandhi to become Congress president

Reportedly, the Congress party is currently in Rajasthan’s Udaipur from May 13 for its three-day `Chintan Shivir`. The meeting is to decide a roadmap for the revival of the party’s future. Interestingly, a clamour has been witnessed in the meeting for Rahul Gandhi to hold the position of President of CWC.

As per the reports, the most prominent members of the party who raised their voices for Rahul Gandhi`s return are Chief Ministers Ashok Gehlot (Rajasthan) and Bhupesh Baghel (Chhattisgarh), apart from Randeep Surjewala, KC Venugopal and other Rahul loyalists.

The partty believes that Rahul Gandhi is the only contender for the party chief position apart from Sonia Gandhi. The conclave will focus on the restructuring of the party to further strengthen the organisation to ensure that it is ready before the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Notably, the heads of various departments of Congress, office bearers, former Union ministers and MPs would take part in the Chintan Shivir. A total of 422 members will be attending the Shivir, of which 30-35 per cent will be youth and 21 per cent women.

As per the Congress sources, top Congress leaders are believed to offer solutions and clear the party’s stance on key issues including polarisation, Centre-state ties, forming of alliances and attempts at bringing in ”uniformity”, especially in the Northeast.

It is always a Gandhi president for CWC

It is pertinent to note that Rahul Gandhi had quit the post after the party`s second massive defeat in the 2019 elections. Basically, Gandhi’s scion attempted to ‘sacrifice’ the post for the party’s fortune and suggested that no Gandhi but an outsider from the family should be appointed as party chief. The CWC, however, turned down Rahul’s ‘sacrifice’ offer and appointed Sonia Gandhi as interim President.

Gandhis’ ‘sacrifice’ and G-23 leaders’ “don’t resign”

Earlier as reported by TFI, in March, Sonia Gandhi is learnt to have said that if some people feel the Gandhi family is to blame for the current state of affairs and should step aside, then she along with her children was really to do any “sacrifice” for the party. Basically, it was an offer to quit the leadership of the party.

The reply to the offer was based on expected lines and didn’t come as a major surprise. CWC members immediately turned down Sonia Gandhi’s sacrifice proposal. They requested her to “lead from the front, address organisational weaknesses, and effect necessary and comprehensive organisational changes in order to take on the political challenges.”

Other CWC members like Digvijaya Singh, K H Muniyappa and Mukul Wasnik advised that Rahul Gandhi should be more accessible. Azad said that both the new Congress President who will take over after elections and the state Presidents should be “accessible, acceptable and accountable”.

It is a never-ending cycle. The INC loses an election, holds a CWC meeting, resignations are offered but are rejected immediately. ‘Chintan Shivir’ too is no different and another sham of the Congress party.
