You might have heard of the famous saying – “Hard times create strong men, strong men create good times, good times create weak men, and weak men create hard times.” You may wonder why it is so. The answer to it is the lack of zeal to struggle and the same hunger for success when you are having good times. After tasting success, most people go in their shallow comfort zone and forget the importance of revitalising, setting new goals and striving for it. Not just in real life, this holds water even in Politics, but the BJP seems to not fall in this camp and work on areas where it currently lacks.
Relentless and Perennial efforts of BJP to improve its election tally
The BJP leaders have earned the moniker of being an election machine. They relentlessly work 24 by 7 to expand the party’s tally and ideology in parts of the country where it is comparatively weak. According to news reports, BJP is working on a three layer strategy to strengthen its organisational structure and improve its performance in 144 seats where it suffered loss in the 2019 Lok Sabha election. According to the strategy, BJP has chalked out a plan for the next 18 months. This will involve massive public outreach and Cabinet Ministers thronging these 144 Lok Sabha seats.

The first phase will involve information and data gathering of these 144 Lok Sabha seats and the assembly constituencies falling under them. After proper analysis, the party will strengthen its booth level organisational structure and it has set a target of strengthening 77,800 booths. For effective implementation, the party will deploy three levels of leaders. On the top the Central Committee will supervise the entire program and it will comprise national leaders. The State Committee at the second level will have the duty to execute the plans. The final level named as Cluster Committee will oversee activities and coordinate between the Central and State Committees.

Under this detailed strategy, the Union Ministers will regularly visit and stay in these Lok Sabha seats. The teams will prepare data based on caste, issues working in favour of the party and ones that are against it. The teams will then prepare a dossier highlighting the weak assembly segments, election forecast and Caste equations. Along with it the team will also search for suitable candidates to contest from these seats. Parallelly the party has planned to stage protests every month where opposition parties are in power.
The party has planned to appoint a special media in-charge for each Lok Sabha seat. The teams are also given the duty to convince local media houses that often work against the party. Further, the teams have a target of enrolling nearly 50,000 new followers by December 2022. The main purpose of Public outreach is to inform the citizens about the welfare schemes run by the BJP governments. The party is aiming to focus on youth, women, beneficiary voters and those in armed forces and motivate them to vote for BJP in the next election. The Union Ministers are asked to upload selfies with people who have received benefits of government programmes.
Why the 400+ figure is a possibility and not a hyperbole
While the BJP is working on the aforementioned strategy to help itself in its weaker areas, the opposition is struggling to put up a political challenge to the saffron party. They are fighting among themselves for their imaginary PM post. And even their post election strategies have been just a hog wash to protect their hegemony within the party. For example, the Congress recently organised Chintan Shivir which proved only to be a sham of an event, with only the Gandhi family emerging stronger as always.

Further, the BJP has made itself a political juggernaut. It has consolidated its gains in many states and is working to make a stronghold in the southern states. It has shattered all the caste equations and built a stronger Hindutva coalition with its effective welfare schemes. The Antyodaya Principle coupled with Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) has struck the right chords among the deprived sections and has made BJP the first choice for them. Additionally, the charisma of Modi has not faded and is cutting votes across party lines.

With the combination of effective delivery of welfare schemes and empowering the youth and Mahila Voter, the BJP has put a mammoth challenge behind the opposition which is currently in a dilapidated condition. With strengthening the already strong organisational structure, the BJP has shown its intent for improving its Lok Sabha tally.
Hence, the slogan BJP 400+ Lok Sabha seats in 2024 may not be a matter of joke but a future reality.
