The mere existence of Pakistan is the antithesis of India. In hatred for India, the Islamic nation waged wars in which it suffered a humiliating defeat. Then came the policy of hybrid war in which it used state sponsored terror to wreck hell on India. But as they say, he who digs a pit for others falls in the same pit. The Jihadis have waged a war against their own godfathers Pakistan Army, Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and the deep state.
Jihad: Religious war on own Godfather
The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has launched a full fledged civil war in Pakistan. They want to replicate what their ethnic brothers have done in Afghanistan. The exit of US forces from Afghanistan’s soil through terror attacks, bomb blasts, bloodshed and guerilla warfare has emboldened the TTP. In a latest development the Pakistani military launched airstrikes in the eastern provinces of Afghanistan. It seems that this was a hasty and unplanned airstrike as nearly 20 innocent children and at least 25 other people lost their lives.
This failure has caused the Pakistani Army to get cold feet as they have not confirmed this airstrike. The Pakistani Army in retaliation had to involve the big firepower as it started to suffer heavy losses at the hands of the group trained, funded and radicalised jihadis by Afghan-Taliban. Earlier, the TTP jihadis had killed seven Pakistan soldiers in the North Waziristan district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, near the Afghanistan border.
Earlier TTP-Pakistan engagement and it’s Conundrum
Pakistan is in a catch 22 situation. Its support to terrorist group Afghan-Taliban has resulted in strengthening the other terrorist group TTP, whose main purpose of existence is destruction of Pakistani establishment. Hence, it doesn’t know what to do, dump terror group Afghan-Taliban or keep supporting it. It gave unwavering support to the Afghan-Taliban with two ulterior motives. One that it will extort money from the West to mediate between West and Afghan-Taliban.
The other purpose of supporting the Taliban was that it wanted to use close proximity and the same ethnicity (Pashtuns) of Afghan-Taliban and TTP. It hoped that in exchange for its unhindered support the Afghan-Taliban will help Pak in brokering peace with TTP or will help in weeding TTP menace by giving intel on them and their hideouts.

But both these motives were doomed to fail. As for its takeover of Afghanistan soil, the terror group Afghan-Taliban freed dreaded TTP jihadis to fight for its “religious war” (Jihad) against US and it’s western allies. Now since the ouster of US and Western forces from Afghanistan both the Taliban being Pashtuns seems to have united to achieve the same fate for Pakistan.
Knowing that it was they who resurrected the Taliban. Pakistan did try to control the damage and bent on its knees to accept some demands of TTP. For this it opened a peace talk with the TTP. But the TTP wanted to fully attain its objective of Jihad and root out the Pakistan Army, state machinery and bring extreme, medieval version of Sharia law in Pakistan. Hence the Pakistan support to terrorist groups has boomeranged to hurt it.

The worst fear of Pakistan has not yet turned into reality. The Pashtuns don’t accept the Durant line, the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan. Hence the Pashtun movement will be Pakistan’s death nail and the reason for this catastrophe will be none other than Pakistan itself. Once the US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton on Pakistan’s support to terrorists had said, “you can’t keep snakes in your backyard and expect them only to bite your nieghbours. Eventually those snakes are going to turn on whoever has them in the backyard”.
Pakistan is now learning this hard lesson which has been stated by many and in the past we at TFI have in detail talked about it. So, it is the need of the hour for Pakistan to shun away the hatred for India and stop funding, arming and shielding terrorists. The policy of state sponsored terrorism against India has proven to be deadly for itself. Hence, the Pakistan should do away its false notion of good terrorist and bad terrorist. The Jihadis they are funding will only destroy them and will be the reason for the country’s balkanisation and its oblivion.
