A journalist who came to attend Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann’s joint press conference was beaten like a mule

Once the former US president Abraham Lincoln had said “If you want to test a man’s character, give him power”. Kejriwal, who always used to sermonize about the democratic rights of the people is now acting like a dictator after taking the reigns of Punjab police. Newly got police machinery of Punjab is being used to suppress the voice of the people. The new victim of his authoritative & unlawful act is a journalist.

Journalists were beaten black & blue

A journalist Naresh Vats associated with the Hindustan Post was beaten black & blue by the Punjab police while he was trying to enter the venue of the joint press conference brought by Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann.

According to news reports, a press conference was called by the Delhi CM & Punjab CM jointly in a Delhi Imperial Hotel. Despite showing the accredited card issued by the Press Information Bureau, the Punjab police refused to acknowledge the credentials & were not only beaten but were threatened to put behind the bars by the security personnel at the venue when the journalist Naresh Vats questioned their undemocratic & arbitrary action.

Is journalism a crime?

The victim journalist Naresh Vats after the attack has complained to the Parliament Street police station about the unlawful act. Further questioning the dictatorship’s behavior Punjab Police asked Kejriwal, “Honorable Arvind Kejriwal Ji, Punjab Police came to Delhi to beat up a journalist? The journalist Naresh Vats is threatened with being sent to jail. You are requested that when will the culprits of my beating in the Imperial Hotel be punished?

Further, the Press Club of India (PCI) taking the cognizance has also issued the statement. The PCI questioning the silence of Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal & Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann said “It is a matter of serious concern that there is no action or statement from either chief minister. Their silence is an ominous pointer to their tacit approval of the incident. Press Club demands immediate suspension of the policemen and due compensation to the aggrieved scribe.”

After the Punjab elections, the Punjab police are mostly roaming around the doors of critics of Kejriwal & AAP. Earlier, the state police had taken action against Kumar Vishwas & BJP leader Tajinger Pal Singh Bagga for criticizing Delhi CM Kejriwal. And, now the use of Punjab police against a journalist Naresh Vats in Delhi shows the crossing jurisdiction of the police.

It seems like Kejriwal is the CM of Punjab and using the state police against his critics. Further, the AAP has not yet completed its two months in power & has started to show its ‘true principles’ of democratic working. Kejriwal, lecturing the whole country about democratic values has now illegally held the whole state police under his service & using them to suppress the critic’s voice.
