With corrupt practices, Ministers and bureaucrats in the past had amassed immeasurable wealth. Striking a hammer on this, the UP CM has made it compulsory for the bureaucrats, officials and Ministers to declare their whole family’s movable and immovable properties and assets. The CM has allotted a stipulated time period of three months and has directed the officials to publish the details of assets on an online portal. It will make it easier for the general public to see and provide information in case of any dispute or undisclosed asset by a Minister or bureaucrat. He also directed the Ministers to refrain from involving family members in any government operation.

CM Yogi said, “The conduct of public representatives is very important for a healthy democracy. According to this spirit, all the honorable ministers should make a public declaration of all movable and immovable property of themselves and their family members within a period of the next three months after taking oath. The code of conduct prescribed for the ministers should be strictly followed while ensuring the compliance with the provisions of the Representation of the People Act in letter and spirit.”

CM Yogi has been known for his zero-tolerance attitude towards corrupt officials. On 1st April he suspended two officers – Sonbhadra DM TK Shibu and Ghaziabad SSP Pawan Kumar on charges of corruption and dereliction of duty respectively. According to a Zee News report, 775 corrupt officials experienced the wrath of CM Yogi’s gritty attitude towards eliminating corruption.
