Gone are the days when Indians would have taken ‘anti-India’ slogans and ‘pro-secessionist’ activities with their chins down. Now the authorities and legal machinery will bring such Azadi-loving Jihadis to the doorstep of Justice.
Azadi slogan attracts ban on Hate Spewing Gatherings
The Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) Administration has made its stance crystal clear that it would not allow any anti-India activities to flourish in the Union Territory. For this, the administration has taken a proactive step, disallowing Friday prayers at Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid. This would have been the last Friday prayer of Ramadan and hence would pull in a large crowd. Such a huge gathering would rather have made it difficult for the administration to manage it. Moreover, it was feared that the gathering could spiral into an Azadi protest.

Informing the Indian Express about the reason for disallowing the gathering at Jamia Masjid, officials said, “Traditionally, it is a huge congregation and it can easily spiral into an Azadi protest. It would be difficult for us to manage such a huge congregation.”
Altaf Ahmad Bhat, secretary of Anjuman Auqaf Jamia Masjid, said “It has been conveyed that the Jumat-ul-Vida (the last Friday prayers of Ramadan) and Shab-e-Qadr (night prayers on the 27th night of Ramadan) would not be allowed at the grand mosque”. Earlier thirteen pro-separatist jihadists raising anti-India slogans had been arrested. They have been charged with sedition.
Masjids infamous for anti-India activities
The arrest of thirteen people for raising anti-India slogans at the Jamia Masjid is not a one-off incident. In the past as well, masjids have been a haven for Hindu hatred, anti-India and Azadi sloganeering. In June 2017, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mohammed Ayub Pandith was lynched by the radical Islamist mob, outside Srinagar’s Jamia Masjid. Masjids have been used as a radicalisation site for infusing Anti-India sentiments in Kashmiri youths.

It is remarkable that the JnK administration and our armed forces have adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards anti-India activities. The Azadi slogans and pro-separatist acts have been dealt with stringent enforcement of existing legal remedies. The laws hence become critical tool for maintaining peace and security in the region.
The JnK administration should be applauded that it has managed the situation both firmly and maturely. Furthermore, the political heads deserve due credit as they have stood against Islamic hegemony in the region, and have treated the security situations in accordance with law. These strong actions like arresting pro-separatists, banning hate-spreading gatherings, in so called areas of separatist strongholds are nothing less than a surgical strike on the dreams of Azadi gang.
