Plabita Borthakur is an Assamese actress, singer, and artist. She is both a solo artist and a member of the Manu and Chow band. Career
Plabita Borthakur relocated to Mumbai in 2011 after graduating from high school; her sisters had already left Duliajan to pursue careers in Bollywood. Borthakur joined Barry John’s acting studio despite not knowing if acting was right for her. Borthakur landed a few ad agreements, but it was her role as Anushka Sharma’s sister in PK (2014) that got her noticed.
Her acting in the movie Lipstik Under My Burkha made her popular overnight. After her traditional Muslim parents see Rehana Abidi, played by Plabita Borthakur, dancing at an engagement party, she is confined to her chamber in Lipstick Under My Burkha.

Plabita Borthakur short biography
Her father, Probin Borthakur, worked for Oil India Limited as an engineer and was also an Indian classical vocalist and teacher, while her mother is a writer and poet. Parineeta Borthakur and Priyangi Borthakur, her older sisters, are also in the film industry.
