Actor Lal Biography and Career

M. P. Michael, better known by his stage name Lal, is an Indian actor, screenwriter, film director, producer, and distributor who works primarily in Malayalam cinema. In this article we are going to talk about the biography, career, notable works, films, awards and family of Actor Lal so read the article till the end.

Career

Siddique-Lal productions were never based on star power or the superstar formula that was prevalent in Malayalam cinema at the time. They had previously refused to cast Mohanlal or Mammootty. In the end, both of them changed their minds, and when their fourth production film was due to be released, Siddique-Lal chose Mohanlal and produced Vietnam Colony (1992), which was a box office success.

The two teamed up again for their fifth film, Kabooliwala (1994), which was likewise a success.

After that, they parted ways as a directing duo, and Lal went into production with Siddique’s Mammootty-starrer Hitler.

In Suresh Gopi’s Kaliyattam, directed by Jayaraj, Lal made his acting debut as Paniyan, a villain. Actor Lal played Paniyan, the figure who stood in for Iago in Kaliyattam, a new take on Othello. He owns and operates Lal Media Arts in Kochi, a film post-production company. In the year 2009, he made a comeback as a filmmaker. He directed the sequel to In Harihar Nagar, 2 Harihar Nagar, which was a box office success.

He received the National Film Award – Special Mention for his role in the 2012 film Ozhimuri. In Thalappavu (2008), Ayaal (2013), and Zachariayude Garbhinikal, he won two state cinema awards for Best Actor (2013).

Lal, who also has a supporting role in Karthi’s Sulthan (2021), praised Mari Selvaraj for her work on Karnan (2021).

Nancy Lal is Lal’s wife, and the couple has two children, Jean Paul Lal and Monica Lal. Jean Paul is a director of films. Actor Lal was born Michael. M. A. Paul, his father, was a well-known tabla musician. His brother Alex Paul is a well-known Malayalam film composer, and his son Jean works as a film director in the same business.

Early career

He began his career as a mimicry artist in Kalabhavan, where he met his boyhood buddy Siddique, with whom he would later collaborate on several films as Siddique-Lal. In the film Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu, Lal and Siddique worked as assistant directors to Fazil.
