Little mix Jesy Nelson Biography and Career

Jesy Nelson is a British singer who was a member of the Little Mix girl group from 2011 to 2020. She was born on 14 June 1991 in Romford, London, England.

After the release of her music video for “Boyz” in 2021, Little mix Jesy Nelson received backlash online for her appearance in the video, with some criticising on her darkish skin and accent. More charges of cultural appropriation and blackfishing followed.

Career

She is active in music industry from 2011 to present. In October 2021, she debuted as a solo artist with the release of her debut solo single “Boyz” featuring Nicki Minaj.

Nelson auditioned as a solo artist for The X Factor’s eighth season in 2011 and made it to the bootcamp stage. Following her removal, she was placed in a group with three other contestants to create the girl group Little Mix, which went on to win the British version of the show for the first time.

She released six studio albums with the group, five number-one singles on the UK Singles Chart, and over 60 million copies worldwide, making them one of the best-selling girl groups in the world.

Nelson’s documentary, Jesy Nelson: Odd One Out, was broadcast on BBC Three in 2019 before she left the group in 2020. Her problems with body image and internet bullying inspired the film. The program broke records and became BBC Three’s most popular factual title since the channel went online, with 3.3 million viewers watching it on BBC One.

Nelson began dating Jake Roche, the main vocalist of Rixton, in 2014. The pair married on July 19, 2015, but split up in November 2016.

In 2017, she had a brief romance with Chris Clark, and then a 16-month relationship with musician Harry James, which ended in November 2018.

Nelson began dating Chris Hughes, a Love Island contestant, in January 2019. “I can honestly say I’ve never been more in love and happy in my life,” she stated on the one-year anniversary of their relationship in January 2020. Nelson and Hughes ended their relationship in April 2020 owing to personal issues.

School life

Nelson has claimed that being tormented at school contributed to her developing stress-induced baldness as a kid.

Suicide attempt

Nelson talked about her body image issues in her BBC documentary Odd One Out. She claimed she would fast before TV appearances or video shoots, then binge eats afterward.

She attempted suicide in 2013 after being harassed by internet trolls on Twitter, saying, “I felt like I physically couldn’t endure the torture any longer.”
