Elon Musk welcomes you to ‘Doge-Twitter

Elon Musk, after buying the largest shares of Twitter has become a board member of the company. Although, the foundational purpose of Twitter was to communicate with a small group of people as a social network but gradually developed into an information network.

Elon Musk – The Biggest Shareholder of Twitter

As it is a leading platform in the fast pace of information dissemination, any tweak & biases affect the neutrality of the site. Recently, Musk asked his followers to vote if Twitter rigorously adheres to the principles of Free speech. About 2 million people took part in the vote, and 70% of the Tweeple confirmed the platform’s tweaking.

Following the pole, rather than creating a new platform, he decided to join Twitter and buy 9.2% of the shares of the company. It is pertinent to note that the other biggest shareholders are Vanguard Group 8.8%, Morgan Stanley (8.4%), Black Rock Inc (6.5%), State Street Corp(4.5%), and Twitter’s former CEO Jack Dorsey(2.3%).

What led him to the Company

The manipulation of information by the platform is the biggest concern of its users. Musk is also a critic of its tweaking policies. The democratic value of freedom of speech and expression is being moderated by the big tech companies according to their own policies. As an example of controlling the discourse, Twitter has even banned the former President of the United States of America. Moreover, the change in the discourse of a debate through tech has a significant impact on the opinion of the people.

In a democratic and free society, freedom of expression holds the highest value. If you can not express what you feel then there is no use for freedom. Likewise, the meddling in the expression by the platform, is what led him to the board of the company. And He has already indicated to make significant improvements to Twitter.

Musk on Freedom of Speech

Musk has been against the idea of any censorship on freedom of speech. Although he advocates for the absolute idea of expression, only time will say how neutral the platform will be. He is all and all a businessman and past he has influenced the sentiment of investors by openly talking about the investment. It seems in the veil of the freedom of speech, he wanted to own his shares in the management of information.

In the name of democracy and liberty, many people are running their shops. Elon Musk joining the board of Twitter will be another example on the list. The idea is to control the information and manipulate it according to its own benefit. So, Welcome to the ‘Doge-Twitter’.
