Rakhee Thakrar is a professional actress from the United Kingdom. She is known for portraying Shabnam Masood, the 37-year-old actress, rose to notoriety as Shabnam Masood in a British soap opera. Acting as Emily Sands in the iconic British teen comedy television series Sex Education, the actress has now gained worldwide acclaim. Career

Rakhee Thakrar starred as Roopa Chauhan in a BBC Asian Network drama called Silver Street. This was the very first show regarding South Asians in the United Kingdom.

Later, she became a member of Hathi Production, a theatre group.

Rakhee Thakrar made her first appearance in a television series on March 25, 2006, in the British television film Banglatown Banquet. The story revolves around a Bangladeshi woman who is duped by her husband.

Rakhee’s outstanding performance as Shabnam in East Enders earned her the title of ambassador for Sands, a British charity that helps stillborn children.

In 2014, Rakhee was one of twenty journalists chosen for a unique scheme run by Leicester Mercury Newspapers.

Rakhee Thakrar was hired as Roopa Chauhan in the radio play Silver Street, which aired on the BBC Asian Network in 2004. From the first episode in 2004, until the last episode in 2010, Thakrar played the part.

Thakrar made her first television appearance in the BBC program Banglatown Banquet in 2006. Thakrar went on to appear in a variety of TV shows, including Doctors, Holby City, Peep Show, and, most notably, Cloud 9, in which he portrayed the lead role.

Thakrar joined EastEnders in 2013 and made her first appearance on the show on January 13, 2014. Shabnam Masood, her character, was originally performed by Zahra Ahmadi from 2007 to 2008.

While portraying Shabnam, Thakrar’s most renowned plotline was when the character gave birth to a stillborn kid, with viewers, critics, and coworkers complimenting her portrayal throughout the storyline.

Following Shabnam’s unsuccessful marriage to Kush Kazemi, Thakrar left EastEnders in 2015 and was last seen onscreen on February 5, 2016. In 2019, she started playing Emily Sands in the Netflix series Sex Education.
