After 7 decades, Finally, Himanta Biswa Sarma gives wings to the North Eastern Youth

Assam CM Himanta recently inaugurated the first-ever Flight Training Organization (FTO) in the northeastern states of India. Till now, there was not a single training institute for the pilot in any of the regions’ states. With the inauguration, the youth’s dream to fly high in the sky will be closer.

Boost to Air Connectivity

Since independence, North Eastern States have always been neglected by the central government. But Modi government since its office has given a special priority to the development and growth of the region. Especially in infrastructure building, the region has seen an exponential speed.

To make India Atmanirbhar in the pilot training program it is one of the 9 Flight Training Organization planned under 1st phase of the program. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, on the occasion, said, “ Nearly 200 pilots will be trained at the academy where 10% seats will be reserved to which Assam can sponsor aspirants from lower & lower-middle-class families.

The development of Flight Training Organization will create a range of other opportunities for the region’s people. It will give a further boost to the UDAN yojana of the government to increase the air connectivity throughout the region.

Northern Eastern States – On a special flight of growth

Since 2014 Modi government has been involved in the infrastructure development of the state on a war footing. May it be the road, railways, communication, waterways, airways or power, in every sector with the allocation of a special package, the region is being connected physically as well as psychologically by the rest of the Indian states.

From 2014 to 2019 North Eastern Region has seen Gross State Domestic Produce (GSDP) growth from USD 37 billion in 2014 to USD 52 billion in 2019, a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 9%.

In budget 2022-23, a special scheme Prime Minister’s Development Initiative for North East (PM-DevINE)  has been launched by the Modi Government. The aim is to fund infrastructure and social development projects in the region.

To the development of the region, all-union ministries allocate 10% of their budget to the northeastern states. In comparison to about INR 30000 crore in 2015-16, In 2022-23 it has allocated INR 76040 crore to the growth of the region. The 150% growth in the budget allocation in about 7 years reflects the special attention of the centre towards the region.

Himanta Biswa Sarma – A special bridge of peace in the region

The years of the neglected state of affairs had led the state into the cycle of violence. The recurring effect of killings and instability had affected the growth of the region. The special culture and living patterns of the regional tribes were not given proper attention. The vulnerability was used by the vested interest group to incite violence and create a sense of secessionist feelings.

However, the combined effort of the centre and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma (HBS) has led the states’ from the cycle of growth to the trajectory of ‘sky high’ development.

From ending 5 decades-old land border dispute between Assam & Meghalaya to bringing a peace agreement with Bodo & Karbi militants groups, under HBS, the state is leading on the path of exponential growth.

The inauguration of the first Flight Training Organization will not only train pilots to fly aircraft but also give wings to the aspirations of millions of youth in the region. The sunrise states will ultimately be on the sunrise step of development.
