Morari Bapu short biography
Morari Bapu gave his first Ramcharitmanas talk at the age of 14 at a nine-day discourse held in Dhanfulia, Gujarat, under Ramfaldas Maharaj.
Morari Bapu has since performed over 800 Ramkathas, each lasting nine days and based on a verse from the Ramcharitmanas. In addition, he has recounted 19 verses from the reverend Gopi Geet (each verse discourse of seven days). His Katha was always accompanied by two essential elements: “Bhajan” (prayer) and “Bhojan Prasad” (meals/blessed food/sacrament). In 1976, he presented his first lecture outside of the United States in Nairobi, Kenya.
In India and internationally, Morari Bapu offers talks (kathaas) in Gujarati and Hindi. He has given talks in the United States, the United Kingdom, South Africa, Kenya, Uganda, Cambodia, Jordan, Muscat, on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean Sea, on an aeroplane travelling around the world, in Vatican City, and on the foothills of Mount Kailash in China, as well as on a cruise ship in the Mediterranean Sea and on an aeroplane travelling around the world.
Early life biography of Morari Bapu
Morari Bapu was born on March 2, 1946, in Talgajarda village near Mahuva, Gujarat, to Prabhudas Bapu Hariyani and Savitri Ben Hariyani, as part of a family of six brothers and two sisters.
Nimbarka Sampradaya, a Hindu Vaishnava tradition, was followed by his family. His grandpa Tribhovandas Hariyani is his guru, or spiritual instructor, and he learned the Ramcharitmanas from him at Chitrakutdham. While travelling from Talgajarda to Mahuva’s primary and secondary schools, he memorised the chaupais (couplets).
Morari Bapu enrolled at Shahpur Teachers Training College in Junagadh after completing his secondary school. In 1966, he became a teacher at a primary school in Pauva.
Philanthropy and Opinions
Morari Bapu, who believes in ‘Pravahi parampara’ (flowing tradition), has advocated for progressive norms in the twenty-first century, believing that religious ideas should not be stagnant.
Throughout his 60-year trip, Bapu has attempted to locate the “last-man” whenever and wherever possible. He has also paid visits to those who are incarcerated.
Kathas for various causes
In 2014, Ram katha donated roughly 10 crore to the Uttarakhand floods and the reconstruction of the Kedarnath temple. He personally travelled to Uttarakhand and presented the checks to the victims.
In 2017, he also completed a katha for Sree LalluBhai Arogya Mandir in Savar Kundla, Gujarat. During this katha, the sum raised by devotees was directly presented to the trust, and the organisation no longer accepts any expenses from the patients.
In March 2020, Bapu originated the concept during the katha discourse and married 95 couples on the 8th day of Ramkatha in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. Apart from that, every year at SenjalDham, Gujarat, he organises a “Samuh Lagna” (an occasion where several marriages take place at the same time) for the poor.
In 2012, Bapu backed the Akshaya Patra Foundation and held a Ram Katha in Kolkatta. Bapu and his disciples have raised 4 crores in this katha.
In December 2012, a Katha was held to collect money for cancer research, and the proceeds were donated to the Gujarat Cancer Society.
Bapu participated in a 9-day katha for kidney patients in Sabarmati, Gujarat, organised by the Institute of Kidney Diseases and Research Centre (IKRDC) and the Dr. H L Trivedi Institute of Transplantation Sciences (ITS). These institutions received a donation of 5 crores from this katha. This is one of the first spiritual programmes designed specifically for kidney sufferers.

Morari Bapu Ayodhya’s Katha:
Morari Bapu stated in an interview with Times Now that his motivation is to “make Ram Katha (Story of Rama) available to the ignored, exploited, and marginalised parts of society, much as Ram went to the Shabris, Nishads, and Sugareevas of that time.”
In December 2018, Morari Bapu organised the Ram Katha among sex workers in Ayodhya, and he pledged a sum of Rs. 3 crore for their wellbeing.
In the last, he distributed Rs. 6.92 crore (69.2 million) for the welfare of sex workers, to which he contributed Rs. 11 lakh (1.1 million). Several Hindu religious and spiritual figures criticised Morari Bapu’s speech to sex workers in Ayodhya.
