In Indian politics, the leader who has been sidelined makes the loudest noise. The same is happening with veteran leader Subramanian Swamy. In his latest tweet, he took a shameless jibe at Prime Minister Narendra Modi criticising India’s stand. India’s diplomatic stance has set a precedent for the world. But here in the country itself, PM has got some vocal but baseless critics.

Things go south between PM Modi and Swamy
Subramanian Swamy is often looked at as an accomplished political veteran, especially after his contribution in Ram Janmabhoomi and Ram Setu cases. BJP has a culture of dropping heavyweights, but the case of Subramanian Swamy is an exception.
Things are not smooth between him and PM Modi since he was denied the cabinet berth due to age limits. A man in active politics since Emergency could not take it. He was though given a Rajya Sabha seat keeping his political stature in mind, and he proved to be instrumental in pushing BJP’s agenda in the Rajya Sabha.
But things went ugly after Nirmala Sitharaman was appointed as the Union Finance Minister. He started criticising the Modi Government on every step from renaming Ahmedabad cricket stadium to the Sino- India military standoff. The recent criticism by him has come on India’s ‘neutral and balanced’ stand on the Russia-Ukraine war.
Swamy criticizes India’s ‘neutral’ stance
Russia is invading Ukraine, and India has adopted a ‘neutral’ stance while criticising the ongoing violence. After India’s stance, Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy hurled abuses at PM Modi for ‘being neutral’ amidst the conflict.
Now that it is clear that what Russia has done in Ukraine violates BRICS Resolution in Delhi Declaration of last year. Will Modi have the guts to tell Putin to back off?

He wrote a tweet, “Now that it is clear that what Russia has done in Ukraine violates BRICS Resolution in Delhi Declaration of last year. Will Modi have the guts to tell Putin to back off?”
Dr Swamy does not keep himself updated with the news, and this is evident in this tweet. As PM Modi had called for an immediate cessation of violence in Ukraine, on the very first day of the invasion.

No doubt, India abstained from voting on the United Nations Security Council resolution that criticised Russia’s action against Ukraine and India’s Permanent Representative to UN did elaborate the reasons for India’s abstention.
India insisted, “No solution can ever be arrived at the cost of human lives.” India held that it was not her war and therefore the government chose to stay balanced while condemning hostilities carried out in Ukraine by Russia. And Dr Swamy believes that such a move displayed that the Modi government lacked guts.
Subramanian Swamy can’t maintain ‘bhasha ki maryada’
Swamy looks very irked by his sidelining and for very long he has been craving for Finance Minister’s seat. He is so outraged that he could not decide what kind of language he should use for the Prime Minister.
Upon Swamy’s aforementioned tweet, a Twitter user emphasized, “No, he’s caught between a rock and a hard place, the best is to play neutral which he is doing.”
Swamy was miffed by this response, and he resorted to using a derogatory term against the transgender community. Swamy wrote, “A Prime Minister of 1.4 billion cultured people cannot be a political hijda.”

There can be many ways of questioning the decision of the political leadership and criticising the same but passing on derogatory remarks on the supreme leader is not acceptable.
Swamy for many months has been seen bordering on hate for PM Modi. And he is seemingly on the path to an unfortunate fallout with the BJP.
