If you’ve watched ‘The Tashkent Files’, you must be aware of how courageous the director Vivek Agnihotri is. For those unversed, ‘The Tashkent Files’ is one of the boldest political movies in Hindi. Now, the director has dropped a new bombshell in the name of ‘The Kashmir Files’. And, the movie has been declared a hit even before its release.

The trailer of ‘The Kashmir Files’ is here

Yesterday, the trailer of the most-anticipated film The Kashmir Files was released online. Ever since the trailer’s release, it has become the talk of the town for all the right reasons. With the protagonist like Anupam Kher and Mithun Chakraborty, the upcoming movie seems to be even more daring and promising than ‘The Tashkent Files’.

Apart from Anupam Kher and Mithun, an ensemble cast of National Award Winners like, Pallavi Joshi, PrakashBelavadi makes it a must-watch.

The movie is all set to hit the theaters on March 11, 2022.

Review of the trailer

Unlike Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s Shikara, ‘The Kashmir Files’ seems to be a shocking, interesting and brutally honest film. The movie bravely depicts the true stories of Kashmir Pandits’ genocide. Kudos to VivekAgnihotri for a true display of the exodus and killings of Kashmiri Pandits in the 90s!

Coming back to the trailer, the 3.5 minutes long trailer begins with a scene where Atul Srivastavas’ character is seen asking a Kashmiri Muslim (played by a co-star) how many Kashmiri Pandits he killed during the Genocide. In response to this, the Kashmiri Muslim said 20-25. Moving further, Atul can be seen asking the Kashmiri Muslim what if someone asks him to kill his brother and mother to which he ruthlessly replied, “I will kill them.”

Then enters DarshanKumaar and the chaos begins. The terror situation in the valley along with dreadful rallies and killings has been displayed honestly. Anupam Kher, who is a Kashmiri Pandit, makes everyone teary-eyed when he describes ‘their’ Kashmir. Mithun Chakraborty, through his astounding performance, can make everyone question that “Kashmiri Pandits also went through so much, but they never picked up a gun, why?”

Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files is certainly the roller coaster of emotions.

Tweeples showered praises on the trailer

The trailer received strong reactions from the netizens and was appreciated by many calling it a ‘must watch’.

Many highlighted that the film would portray the ‘truth’ or the ‘real facts’ of the controversial event. Others expressed gratitude for bringing this incident to the limelight. A group of people commented that they ‘almost cried’ after watching the trailer.

A Twitter account named Gilmore Girl praising the trailer tweeted, “Watched the trailer of @vivekagnihotri‘s Kashmir Files. My blood ran cold. I genuinely hope people finally see the truth and acknowledge the genocide that Kashmiri hindus went through. They have a right to come home.”

Another Twitter user named Anmol Jamwal took to Twitter to express he appreciate the attempt. He tweeted, “#TheKashmirFiles seems to present an unapologetic & brutal portrayal of what Kashmir Pandits experienced in their own home in 1990. Termed historically as an ‘exodus’ but resulting in so many lives ruined & lost! Of a community that never took violent measures to retaliate.”

The trailer is here but the movie is yet to be released. Witnessing the response by netizens and a glimpse of the power pack performance of the actors in the trailer has led the movie to be declared a hit even before its release.
