The Great Khali joins the BJP

There was a new induction of a popular face in the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Thursday. Dalip Singh Rana, who rose to fame in the WWE under the name of ‘The Great Khali,’ joined the ruling party.

To strengthen the party, Dalip Singh Rana aka The Great Khali was inducted by the Bhartiya Janta Party.

He was formally inducted into the party on Thursday at the party’s National Headquarters. He joined the BJP in presence of Union Minister Jitendra Singh, BJP’s National General Secretary Arun Singh and Member of Parliament Sunita Duggal.

While welcoming the WWE superstar, Jitendra Singh said that like his strong physique and thoughts, he will work towards strengthening the party. General Secretary Arun Singh stressed, “BJP is the world’s largest party and the great Khali, who defeated many famous wrestlers of the world, is joining the party. Son of a farmer, who also served as an officer in Punjab Police, Khali has made the country proud and I am happy that he is joining the BJP.”

Khali’s remarks on joining the BJP

While speaking to the Press after his induction Khali elaborated how inspired he is by the development works of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Khali said, “I have joined the BJP as I am inspired and influenced by the BJP’s policy for the nation. The BJP’s policy is aimed at the country’s progress. I admire the work being done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the country. So, I thought why not be a part of his journey for the nation’s development. I will do whatever responsibility is given to me,”

Khali: Security Guard to Wrestler

Khali, how people know him today was born as Dalip Singh Rana in a Punjabi speaking Hindu- Rajput family in Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. Born with acromegaly his journey to the ring was not easy.

Back in 1993, he used to work as a security guard in Shimla. There he was noticed by a police officer and then inducted into Punjab Police. He soon started training at local gyms after which he was selected for training in the United States of America.

By 2001, Khali was a professional wrestler for All Pro Wrestling in the United States. In 2006, he joined World Wrestling Entertainment under the ring name ‘The Great Khali’. With this, he became the first Indian Professional wrestler to enter into a contract with WWE. He won many titles. His contract got expired in 2014, after which he left the company. Khali was recently inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2021. Khali has acted in several films and had also participated in Bigg Boss season 4, in which he ended up as 4th Runner Up.

Khali after his return to India has started several training centres, where children get training for wrestling. Now he joined the Bhartiya Janta Party on the day of the First polling day of Uttar Pradesh.
