On the day, Uttar Pradesh polls began, chief minister Yogi Adityanath warned that if the correct party is not voted back to power ‘UP could become Kerala’. His statement stirred controversy and even the Chief Minister of Kerala reacted to it. But the same CM Pinarayi Vijayan is silent on the cold-blooded murders of RSS and BJP workers in his state. Another incident of cold-blooded murder has been reported from Kerala. The deceased was associated with the Bhartiya Janata Party.

BPJ worker stabbed to death in Kerala
On Wednesday, a tragic incident took place in Thrikkunnapuzha. In the night around 11:30- 12:30 p.m., an BJP worker identified as Sarath Chandran was attacked. He was taken to hospital where he succumbed to injuries and lost his breath at around 1:30 a.m. on Thursday.
According to reports, deceased Sarath Chandran was a native of Varyamkode. He was attacked by a gang led by Nandu Prakash.

According to the Haripad Police, the deceased had an altercation with members of the gang in the Puthenkari temple. The police said that Chandran was attacked outside the Temple premises by the gang.
The police also accepted that several mafia gangs are quite active in the area. The BJP has alleged that members of a drug mafia gang attacked and killed Sarath.

Massacres of Hindus in Kerala
This is not the first time. In the last few years, Kerala has become the epicentre of violence against Hindus, majorly associated with BJP and RSS.

In November 2021, a Rashtriya Swayamsewak Sangh worker named Sanjith was killed in Palakkad. In the broad daylight, about at 9:30 in the morning, Sanjith’s bike was stopped and he was attacked in front of his wife. After this incident BJP alleged that it was carried out by members of SPDI and accused Vijayan of backing the organization.
Again in December, a similar incident was reported from Alappuzha. Here, a BJP leader Ranjith Sreenivasan was murdered in cold blood at his residence. He was a lawyer by profession and even contested the 2016 Assembly elections and was an active face of the Bhartiya Janata Party in the state. The murder was carried out by unidentified perpetrators whom BJP accuses to be associated with PFI’s political wing SDPI.
Yogi Aditynath, when he said that ‘UP could become Kerala’, targeted cold-blooded murders happening in the southern state of Kerala. In all of these attacks, a particular community has been targeted i.e. Hindus. Political killings are not new to India, but the targeting of a particular community has become a norm in the states like West Bengal and Kerala.
