Can a nineteen-year-old girl, who has not even completed her studies yet, be an inspiration? At this young age, can she have a story to tell? Well with Jyoti, it’s a big Yes!
Jyoti, a 19-year-old girl from Patna, has an inspiring story to share with the whole world. A story of a struggle, a story of success, also a story of abandonment. Jyoti’s journey can be an inspiration to many. For people, waiting for their knight in shining armour, Jyoti’s story of success is a lesson.
Jyoti is a 19-year girl, who lives in a rented apartment in the Patna district of Bihar. Jyoti who once used to beg to feed herself now runs a cafeteria. Jyoti’s life was not a cakewalk, rather she had faced tremendous hardships to reach the place where she is today. For her opportunities were not served in a platter, rather she had to fight and achieve them with great difficulties and hard work.
Jyoti’s hardships: From Abandonment to Adoption
Jyoti was abandoned by her biological parents as soon as she was born. Jyoti does not know who her actual parents were, and why did they abandon her. She was found by a beggar couple at the Patna railway station. She was then adopted by the couple. As soon as Jyoti grew up, she also started begging with her adoptive parents. On some days, when the begged amount was not enough to fill her stomach, she did rag-picking to earn enough to satisfy her hunger.
Jyoti’s thirst for Education
Jyoti was fond of studying since childhood and wanted to do something in life. She desired to make a career out of studying. But life was not merciful on her. Jyoti’s childhood passed without education. She lost her adoptive mother. But her desire for education did not fade away.
Jyoti’s dream of studying became a reality due to Patna District Administration. The Patna District Administration decided to help deprived children through different organizations one of such being the Rambo Foundation. The Rambo Foundation acted as a volunteer organization. Many other deprived, poor, orphaned children are kept and imparted education at different centres of the Rambo Foundation. After joining the Rambo Foundation, Jyoti completed her matriculation with a very exceptional percentage and also learnt the art of Madhubani painting.

Jyoti then got a job to run a cafeteria. She is so financially equipped that today she can pay the rent of the apartment she lives in. Jyoti in the morning works at the cafe and at night, she studies. She wants to make her career in the field of marketing. She is currently pursuing her studies through open school.
Many children like Jyoti, when they see the school going students while they are begging, rag picking and cleaning, wish they could do the same. Children of the same age decked up in school uniforms ignite the desire in the deprived, of doing the same.
Education should not be a privilege rather it should be necessary for every child who takes birth on this planet. The opportunity to get education, acquire knowledge, learn different skills should be available to every child. As every human being has the right to live their lives with dignity.
