Dawat-e-Islami, a Pakistani organisation has strong links with the Kishan Bharwad murder case

Kishan Bharwad murder case has opened a can of worms in Gujarat. New links are constantly being unearthed by Gujarat Police. Now, strong correlational links between Dawat-e-Islami and the murders of Kishan have emerged in the public domain.

Dawat-e-Islami link in Kishan murder

A Gujarat based newspaper has revealed the extent to which Dawat-e-Islami, a Sunni Islamic organization based in Pakistan has established itself in India’s western state. Local daily Sandesh has cited Ahmedabad police to substantiate the claim.

According to Ahmedabad police, Pakistan based organisation has set up over 2000 donation boxes in Ahmedabad itself. The total number of boxes in the whole state is still unknown. These donation boxes collect money from the general public for reasons unknown to the gullible masses.

When enough amount is collected, then it is sent to Pakistan. From Pakistan, it is routed back to India. Re-routing to India takes place via Dubai. The official reason for sending this money to India is that this money is used to fund the education of Muslims in India. However, it is widely believed that money is used for anti-India purposes.

Maulana Qamar Gani Usmani, one of the accused in the Kishan murder case is believed to be running a centre of Dawat-e-Islami.

Shoddy history of Dawat-e-Islami

Dawat-e-Islami was founded in 1981 in Karachi, Pakistan by Maulana Ilyas Kadri. Originally, it was established to propagate Islamic education. It also runs various online courses as well as a TV channel named Madani.

Recently, it has become a new face of Islamic extremism and has been flagged off by various Islamic organisations. In 2018, the Pakistan-based group wanted to hold a two-day congregation in Hyderabad. However, after the Sufi organisation’s warning against the congregation, Police refused to grant them any permission.

Kishan Bharwad was killed by Islamists

On 25^th January 2022, a young man named Kishan Bharwad was killed by two people. According to the police, Kishan was shot dead when he and his cousin Bhaumik Boliya were passing by the Modhwada locality of Dhandhuka town. At around 5:30 PM, two killers approached them on the bike and fired shots. Bhaumik survived while Kishan, the main target died on the spot.

Ahmedabad Police has arrested 3 suspects for the murder of Kishan. Their names are Sabbir Chopda, Maulana Mohammed Ayyub Javrawala and Imtiyaz Pathan. Maulana Mohammed Ayyub Javrawala, 51, a resident of Jamalpur had guided the other two for the crime. According to the police, Ayyub had arranged pistols and cartridges for killing Kishan. Later, Gujarat ATS arrested a cleric named Maulana Qamar Gani Usmani from New Delhi.

Gujarat is a communally volatile state. Its geographical proximity to Pakistan doubles the trouble for law enforcement agencies. The presence of Dawat-e-Islami may not be a surprise for everyone, given that our politicians have pushed Muslim victimization for the last 70 years, but it is definitely a national level threat to the peace and security of India.
