At the age of 18, Harish made his debut as a singer in the music industry. His debut song was a Telugu song for the film Panjaram, followed by ‘Vaa Saghi’ for the film Arasiyal. At the time, he was in his senior year of college. Harish Raghavendra didn’t do anything in the music industry after that.
Meanwhile, he earned a bachelor’s degree in business and a master’s degree in mass communication and journalism from Vivekananda College. He also pursued a career in software engineering. With the well-known classical song Nadapathuve from the movie Bharathi, he re-entered the music industry. Ilaiyaraja wrote the music for the film. In the year 2000, the song became a huge hit, bringing him popularity as well as a Tamil Nadu State award. On Ilaiyaraja’s advice, he changed his name from Harish to Harish Raghavendra at this time.
Ye Azhagiye Theeye from Minnale had a string of successes before he could even enter the software sector. He has sung around 3000 songs in various Indian language films, mostly Tamil, since then.
