Asad Shafiq is a Pakistani cricketer. Between the year of 2010 and 2020 he played for Pakistan national cricket team. He plays for Sindh in domestic cricket in the 2021/22 season. On 21 October 2007 Asad Shafiq made his first-class debut at the age of 21 years in which he played for Karachi Whites against Hyderabad at Niaz Stadium in which he scored 113 runs in 183 balls. After that he scored his second century of that season in which he made 223 runs from 350 balls against Faisalabad.

In that match he does batting for more than eight and a half hours to finish that game which is still his highest score in a first-class match. In 2007–08 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy he played all ten matches for Karachi Whites, and finished the tournament as their leading run-scorer with 745 runs at an average of 49.66.

For the first time in 2010 Asia Cup Shafiq made his position into the national team when he was selected as part of Pakistan’s 15-man squad for the tournament. In a dead rubber match against Bangladesh, he made his ODI debut at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium there he scored 17 runs from 19 balls. For Pakistan’s tour to England in June 2020, he was named in a 29-man squad during the COVID-19 pandemic period.

In his cricket career Shafiq has played 41 Test matches and scored 2597 runs at an average of 43.28 including 8 tons and 13 fifties. His top score is 137 runs against New Zealand in the year 2014 which was played in Sharjah.

He was born on 28 January 1986 at Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. Shafiq mainly belongs from a Gujarati family. He is fluent in Urdu and English language, but he can also speak Gujarati language partly and understands it.

For the 2018–19 season by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) in August 2018, he was one of thirty-three players to be awarded a central contract. For the 2019–20 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy tournament he was named in Sindh’s squad in September 2019.
