75 percent of Indians are fully vaccinated – A feat no country can surpass

Vaccine

Not any power in the world can deny that the way India has dealt with the pandemic is commendable. Despite being the second largest population in the world, the nation has managed to control the cases efficiently. And now, when another variant Omicron had hit the nation and a dramatic increase in the number of cases was witnessed again, India managed to fight the battle yet again. In the aftermath of this fight, a sharp decline in a few states is being witnessed.

This would not have been possible without the vaccination strategy of the Government. India has witnessed a record vaccination in the last few months. And now, adding fur to its cap, the nation has now fully vaccinated around 75% of the total adult population.

PM Modi congratulated citizens for the “momentous feat”

As India touched a benchmark of vaccinating 75 percent of adults against Coronavirus disease, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate the people of the nation. On Sunday, tagging a tweet posted by Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviyae, PM Modi tweeted, “75% of all adults are fully vaccinated. Congratulations to our fellow citizens for this momentous feat. Proud of all those who are making our vaccination drive a success.”

India’s Covid-19 vaccination drive

India began the countrywide Covid-19 vaccination drive on January 16, 2021. The children belonging to the age group of 15-18 years have been getting vaccinated since January 3 this year, while booster doses were administered to health and frontline workers and the elderly began from January 10.

India has administered 163.58 crore vaccine doses so far. As per the current data, the daily positivity rate is 16.16 per cent, while the recovery rate is 93.23 per cent. In the last 24 hours, 17.69 lakh tests were conducted.

A gradual decline in the number of cases

The success of India’s vaccination drive and fight against the pandemic can be justified by the fact that the total positivity rate in Mumbai dropped to 4.3 per cent on Wednesday. This is a sharp fall from 28.9 per cent TPR reported 19 days back on January 7.

On January 7, out of the 72,442 tests conducted, 20,971 samples had tested positive. But after January 10, the daily cases gradually started declining. And, on Wednesday, it plunged to 4.3% with 1,858 positive cases from 42,315 tests conducted in Mumbai.

“We expect the daily caseload to plunge further. Next week, it may go below 1,000 per day. But the public needs to be careful and not let their guard down as the pandemic isn’t over yet,” said Suresh Kakani, additional commissioner, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

Apart from Mumbai, the cases in Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Tamil Nadu are also declining. Meanwhile, Delhi also recorded a dip in the positive rate.

While the other countries that claim to possess the biggest medical infrastructure have failed to deal efficiently with the pandemic, India has successfully surpassed them with its exemplary vaccination strategy.
