During the last decade, #MeToo allegations have engulfed loads of high-profile celebrities and their close ones. Cable News Network (CNN) star anchor Chris Cuomo’s punishment is also one of those nods in this pattern. The tremors of the resignation of Chris Cuomo are bound to shake India’s well-known left-leaning channel NDTV and its celebrity journalist Ravish Kumar.
Chris Cuomo suspended for helping his brother
On Wednesday, 1st December 2021, CNN announced that it has suspended its 9 PM anchor Chris Cuomo for an indefinite period. According to a report by NDTV, new legal transcripts have emerged in the public domain which clearly reveal that Chris had wrongly assisted his elder brother Andrew Cuomo when he was under investigation for sexual misconduct. Later, Andrew had resigned from being a governor of New York.

Citing CNN spokesperson, NDTV revealed that earlier CNN’s internal accountability teams were not privy to the newly released transcripts. CNN spokesperson further sympathized with Cuomo for preferring his family over his job, however, according to them, Chris assisted Andrew in more ways than is acceptable to the channel. In a statement, CNN said, “we understood his need to put family first and job second in aiding Andrew, but the transcripts released by state Attorney General Letitia James point to a greater level of involvement in his brother’s efforts than we previously knew.”
Chris Cuomo’s elder brother Andrew Cuomo was recently involved in various controversies. Once counted as a potential rival for Trump, his rise as a left-wing star owed to the lopsided coverage of his scandalous governorship by friendly left-wing media of America. As it always happens, the propaganda-based left media portals came for him as well and when he was faced with #MeToo allegations, no friendly media outlet except his brother came forward to defend him.
Pandey Brothers-The ‘Cuomo Brothers of India’
Like the Cuomo brothers, Indian public space also boasts of two brothers called Pandey brothers, one of them is a star anchor for NDTV and another one is a Congress politician. Brajesh Pandey, former number 2 of Bihar Congress, and Ravish Kumar, who does not use his Pandey title; probably to cater to his ultra-secular friends in the Lutyens media are the two ‘Cuomo Brothers of India’.
As reported by TFI, In February 2017, despite the alleged insidious threat to her life by Brajesh Pandey, a minor girl had plucked up the courage to come forward and named him as a co-conspirator in her sexual exploitation. Brajesh was charged under the abhorrent Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. He was also charged under Sections 354 and 376 of the IPC, and other Sections of the SC/ST Act.
Based on these allegations, Brajesh Pandey had to resign from his post as vice-President of the Bihar wing of the Congress Party.
No accountability from Ravish Kumar when his brother was in the firing line
As Brajesh Pandey was grabbing the headlines for all sorts of wrong reasons, people of the country were expecting his brother Ravish Kumar to put forward his point of view. Ravish Kumar is well-known for dictating his lessons like ethics, morale, political neutrality, responsible journalism to the people of the country.
He is the one who preaches personal accountability to counter government and capitalists’ alleged excesses in citizen’s daily lives. As it turned out, when people of the country started to question his own accountability, he decided to deviate from the plot and did not pass a single comment against his brother’s alleged crimes. In short, Ravish himself became a prime example of crony capitalism.
NDTV and its Star Anchor’s silence is a part of the larger pattern
NDTV which has been quick to report both Cuomo as well as Pandey brothers’ scandals also did not issue a single statement against his star anchor and his brother.
Left-wing journalists all around the world have often displayed similar behavioral patterns when it comes to taking on their respective targets. Often, they resort to vicious bullying, harassing, and torturing of family members of anyone who stands in opposition to them. On the contrary, when the political roof over their own family members starts to collapse, they get super-protective in defending them.
The fundamental rule theoretically governing the left-wing ideology is the unification of individuals beyond boundaries. However, the practical observable reality is that they only focus on unifying criminal elements of the world, so that they could come forward and create an intellectual cover for these criminals.
