‘It’s nonsense, basically,’ French Prez Macron warns the EU against becoming ‘woke’

Woke, Macron, France, Europe

Emmanuel Macron is a no-nonsense man. Under his leadership, France is leading not just the war on Islamism and radical Islamic thought, but is also fighting an unrelenting battle against the menace of ‘woke culture’. Recently, the European Union (EU) – which is Europe’s parliament of nations, published a manual for communication aimed at avoiding discrimination and promoting inclusiveness. The controversial document, titled “Union of Equality”, recommended the expression “holiday period” instead of “Christmas period”, and in order to guarantee the right of “every person to be treated equally”, preferred that a more generic “Ms” be used in the place of “Miss” or “Mrs”.

The document also proposed that names typical to a specific religion such as “Mary” and “John” not be used anymore. And France is now furious. The French president has slammed ‘woke nonsense’ and said that the European Commission needs to focus its efforts on ‘recovery, power and belonging’. Emmanuel Macron said he does not ‘totally adhere’ to Eurocrats explaining the words ‘people can and can’t use’. Macron said, “A Europe that comes to explain to people what words they should or shouldn’t say is not a Europe to which I totally adhere. It’s nonsense, basically.”

Emmanuel Macron also warned that the bloc risked turning off citizens in droves, if it started meddling in politically correct language. The French President’s warning ought to be taken seriously by the EU, since France will be taking over the rotating EU Council Presidency in the first half of 2022. Macron’s message is loud and clear – fall in line in protecting Europe against woke culture, or perish. No world leader has so far referred to ‘woke culture’ as “nonsense”, and Macron has effectively set a new benchmark for the world to follow.

France’s war on woke culture:

France is fighting tooth and nail, and is vowing to protect its society from the American menace of ‘woke culture’, that has taken many societies around the world hostage. France has announced plans to boost the teaching of classics in schools in an initiative aimed at countering woke propaganda emanating primarily out of the United States of America.

French Education Minister Jean-Michel Blanquer was recently joined by his counterparts from Italy, Greece and Cyprus in signing a charter pledging a “global and international strategy for the promotion and development of Latin and ancient Greek”.

Furthermore, the French Education Minister said in October, “Our country has become a target of the woke movement. If there was a vaccine against the woke virus, it would be French and the leaders of the movement know that… There’s the feeling here that [freedom of] thought is being narrowed to a vision that is not ours.”

Emmanuel Macron told Elle Magazine this past summer, that woke culture was “racializing” French society. “I see that our society is becoming progressively racialized,” he said. Macron understands how far-left ideologues in American universities try to legitimise radical Islamist practices and extremist-orthodox practices, in the garb of leftist propaganda. The Macron administration has rejected such American Islamo-leftism.

Several members of Macron’s government have also shared anti-woke views, including Elisabeth Moreno, the French delegate minister for gender equality and diversity. “The ‘woke’ culture is something very dangerous, and we shouldn’t bring it to France,” she told Bloomberg News in May.

Macron is waging an epic ideological battle against radicalism and other external threats to French culture, regardless of the criticism coming his way.
