Unfunny Hinduphobic ‘comedian’ Munawar Faruqui cries out as all his shows get cancelled

Munawar Faruqui

Munawar Faruqui, a so-called stand-up comedian is infamous for making derogatory comments against Hindu Gods and Goddesses during one of his shows. After his consecutive shows were cancelled in retaliation for making jokes on several sensitive issues, the liberal Faruqui is now crying his noses off.

“Hate won, artist lost”, Munawar’s tactical goodbye

Following the anti-Hindu jokes and derogatory comments on the Godhra riots, Faruqui’s twelve shows were cancelled in the last two months. The recent show to be cancelled was scheduled on Sunday in Bengaluru. However, after several attempts to fight the cancellation by Hindu activists, Munawar Faruqui has finally opted to say a tactical goodbye to his comedy career.

Munawar Faruqui, in an Instagram post, wrote, “Aaj Bangalore show cancelho gaya (under the threats of venue vandalism). We sold 600+ tickets. Month back my team called late PuneethRajkumar sir organisation for charity which we will be going to generate from this show in Bangalore. We agreed to not sell the show on the name of charity as suggested by the noble organization.”

Accusing the Right-wing for the abhorrence Faruqui has spread through his shows, the comedian went on to write, “Putting me in jail for the joke I never did to cancelling my shows, which has nothing problematic in it. This is unfair. This show has gained so much love from people in India irrespective of their religion. This is unfair. We do have censor certificate of the show and it’s clearly nothing problematic in the show. We called off 12 shows in the last two months because of threats to venue and audience.”

“…I think this is the end. My name is MunawarFaruqui and that’s been my time. You guys were wonderful audience. Goodbye, I’m done,” he further added.

Faruqui behind bars

Following a complaint made by an outfit called Hindu Rakshak Sanghatan, Faruqui was arrested on January 1 from a cafe in Indore. The complaint alleged that Faruqui had made some derogatory comments against Hindu Gods and Goddesses and even made fun of Union Home Minister Amit Shah. In the aftermath of the complaint, he was lodged at Indore jail along with four others.

After his bail plea was rejected multiple times by the Indore sessions court, he was granted interim bail by Supreme Court on 7th of February.

‘Secular’ Faruqui mocking Hindu deities and RSS

In a clip online, Faruqui can be seen mocking a classic Bollywood love song in which a woman invokes Ram to celebrate her husband returning home. Mocking Lord Rama, he asserted, “Ram-ji doesn’t give a fuck about your husband.”

The so-called ‘standup comedian’, in a show had also mocked the 2002 Godhra killings in which 58 Hindus were burnt alive by a Muslim mob. Referring to the ‘GodhraKaand’ as a fictional film ‘directed’ by Amit Shah and ‘produced’ by RSS, he shamelessly made a joke on the sensitive issue and said, “I was watching The Burning Train on TV. My father came and told me not to watch such nonsense and turned off the channel. I was like, ‘why so?’ He was like this is the video of Godhrakaand. And this is a news channel. I thought it is a movie directed by Amit Shah, produced by RSS… I don’t know.”

Expressing the rage, netizens have brutally slammed him for the tactical goodbye. A Twitter user Nisheeth Sharan brutally slammed Faruqui and wrote, “Don’t get taken in by the Haramkhor comedian’s goodbye. Finally, a cost has been levied on provoking/ mocking the majority. It is a model that works. Make it a SOP. Improvise. Fine tune. But extract a cost.”

Hypocrite ‘seculars’

If we follow Vir Das’s style, it can be asserted that we come from Two Indias, where the brutal killing of a Hindu leader for his comments against Prophet Muhammad is openly justified. But when a self-proclaimed Muslim comedian is made to sit home for his derogatory comments on Hindu deities, the liberal mob begins playing Muslim cards to gain some sympathy.

The gruesome and cold-blooded killing of former Hindu Mahasabha leader, Kamlesh Tiwari, had shocked the nation. According to a TOI report, the 45-year old was brutally murdered inside his house in the Khurshidbagh area of Naka Hindola of Lucknow for his comments against Prophet Muhammad which came after Azam Khan had termed that RSS workers/karyakartas were Homosexuals.

Despite a democratic protest against the Hinduphobic comments of Faruqui, Hindus are being labelled as intolerant. Had it been any other religion, Munawar Faruqui probably would have been given a brutal lesson.
