Pakistan wanted ICC to give MOTT trophy to a guy called Babar Azam. Of course, records said otherwise

Pakistan, the supposedly only republic state in the Islamic world, is witnessing its worst inflation in 70 years. Currently, inflation stands at more than 9 per cent and has driven many into suicides. Despite other severe reasons to look upon, the Islamist country is now crying its noses off for a petty reason after David Warner was handed the Man of the tournament award rather than Babar Azam.

Warner In, Babar out:

Reportedly, Pakistan suffered a heartbreaking loss when Pakistan cricket team skipper Babar Azam was sidelined to give the Man of the Tournament award to David Warner for the recent T20 World Cup. Undoubtedly, both the players gave a top-notch performance to help their team lift the trophy. But there exist some particular reasons why Warner was preferred for the award rather than Babar Azam.

While Babar’s campaign ended at the hands of Warner’s Australia at the semi-final stage, Warner dominated the New Zealand bowlers to take the team past the finish line by 8 wickets that further led the team to lift the T20 World Cup crown. Even though David Warner scored 14 runs fewer than Babar and only managed three half-centuries, he has been presented the honour because he had maintained a significantly higher strike rate, more than 20 runs per 100 balls higher than the Pakistani opener.

Pakistan’s meltdown over rejection of Babar:

Soon after the news circulated throughout the media, Former Pakistani cricketer Shoaib Akhtar took to twitter to express his resentment and tweeted, “Was really looking forward to see @babarazam258 becoming Man of the Tournament. Unfair decision for sure.”

BCCI has nothing to do with the selection process of the Man of the Tournament award. But Pakistanis believe otherwise. Waqas Amjad, believing BCCI had a role to play in the selection, tweeted, “Retweet if you think Babar Azam lost Man of the Tournament Award due to BCCI bias.”

However, Arfa Feroz Zake, a Journalist took them to cleaners and tweeted, “Babar Azam scored consistently and ended up topscorer in #T20WorldCup but lets be fair. David Warner scored match winning knocks for Australia in both the matches of knockout stage! Just remained a scratch behind Babar Azam in most runs. Warner earned man of the tournament trophy.”

‘Emotional’ Pakistanis on the other hand, bereft of sportsmanship and concrete facts, did not even think twice before playing its aged-old ‘Pakistani’ propaganda to attack India. Witnessing the World Cup’s history, one can easily understand that the Man of the Tournament award is not handed over to a player on the grounds of maximum run score. Other than piling up runs, it requires a great strike rate and consistent performance for any player to receive the award. The decision of the ICC to select Warner for the Man of the Tournament award is justified.
