Kerala Lalithakala Akademi honours a cartoon that deliberately humiliates both India and Hindus globally

Akademi, Cartoon, Kerala

In what looks to be a deliberate insult, Kerala’s Lalithakala Akademi has decided to honour a cartoon that humiliates both India and Hindus on the global stage. The cartoon also deliberately makes fun of India’s successful vaccination campaign.

Lalithakala Akademi insults the country:

A few days ago, the jurist of Kerala Lalithakala Akademi had sat on to decide the winner of the State cartoon award 2019-20. Though the award was given to certain Dinraj of Valapad, the jury decided to honourably mention some cartoons which it considered to be in the race of winning the award.

The Academy chose a cartoon by Anoop Radhakrishnan for its honourable mention. The chosen cartoon depicts a COVID-19 GLOBAL MEDICAL SUMMIT. The summit has heads of state from the USA, India, China, and England. Indian Prime minister is shown sitting in between communist Chinese president and left-tilted president of the USA.

While depicting all other heads of the state in their original and natural form, the cartoon goes on to give political and religious colour to the Indian Prime minister. Instead of a human head, the Indian Prime Minister is shown to be a cow-headed person. Moreover, he is also donning a saffron shawl around his neck.

Both, the cow and the saffron colour, are representatives of Hindu identity. But left-liberals use it to mock Indians proud of their religion.

Cartoon is not grounded in reality:

The Prime minister is also shown to be in bad health; through which cartoonist is trying to depict that India failed in handling the China-induced virus. The reality is however starkly different. India’s successful vaccination campaign against covid-19 has become a role model for leaders all around the world. While the three other countries depicted in the cartoon are struggling to get rid of the virus.

Kerala BJP criticises the cartoon:

The cartoon has invited criticism from BJP. BJP State chief K Surendran especially criticised the Communist government in Kerala for not having any regulatory oversight on the working of the academy. In a social media post, he said- “What Lalithakala Academy has shown is nothing but absurdity. If those who are in power are trying to insult and humiliate the motherland, patriots won’t think twice to oppose it. It’s up to the state govt to control the academy. If otherwise, the people will be forced to do so.”

Lalithakala Akademi tries to skirt its responsibility:

Nemom Pushparaj, the chairman of the academy however decided to escape the responsibility for the abhorrent cartoon. He told media that an eminent jury selects the cartoons to be awarded and the academy has no role in it. It is a clear and deliberate attempt to evade responsibility as eminent jury members are also selected by the academy itself. So, it is their responsibility to select jurists who award cartoons based on at least some realistic assertion.

Kerala government’s anti-Hindu tilt provides encouragement to artists:

The artists promoted by the communist government in Kerala have always been known for their anti-national and anti-Hindu tilt. Recently, Sree Kerala Varma college was in controversy for anti-Hindu and pro-Pakistani posters. Various artworks depicting support for Islamic terrorists have been making headlines in the state.

The state government is well known for its pro-Jihadist and pro-Christian missionaries approach. Recently a woman was harassed and beaten by the communist goons as well as the state police for running the non-halal restaurant. The government provides sacrosanct status to the Mosques while it considers Hindu Mandirs to be public property.

At a time, when India is emerging as a responsible superpower to replace communist China, various internal communist forces inside the country are trying to show it in a bad light. The rewarding of absurdly false and morally corrupt cartoons by the jury members is nothing but an attempt by the Kerala government to hold the Narendra Modi government liable for its own failed covid strategy.
