BJP wins 112 seats uncontested: How Biplab Deb reigns supreme in Tripura

Biplab Deb, Tripura, BJP

Despite the extensive biases of the mainstream media against Tripura CM Biplab Deb, the latter’s popularity and connection with the public has made him undefeatable in the state. His connection with people from diverse backgrounds, specifically on the ground level, is commendable. And, BJP’s recent uncontested win shows how Biplab Deb reigns supreme in Tripura.

BJP wins 112 seats uncontested

Reportedly, Tripura BJP has won 112 seats out of a total of 334 seats uncontested in the Agartala Municipal Corporation and 19 urban local bodies, a few days ahead of civic elections. The ruling party witnessed uncontested victory in five municipal bodies of Bishalgarh, Udaipur, Mohanpur, Ranirbazar, Santirbazar, and Kamalpur and Jirania Nagar panchayats, among other seats.

An Election Department official asserted, “after scrutiny of nomination papers for state civic body polls, Tripura’s ruling BJP has won 112 seats out of the total 334 uncontested.”

Opposition bowed before Tripura King

The opposition, bereft of any strategy and control over the area, chose not to contest against Biplab as they are aware of his political acumen and power in the state.

BJP spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharya has asserted that his party didn’t wish to win without contesting but claimed they can’t be blamed for the opposition not being able to put up candidates, as reported by The Indian Express.

“The CPIM has lost acceptance. We never wanted to win without contest. However, we will contest in the rest of the seats. The CPM has nothing but complaints left for their existence. Whatever they did during their tenure, they are blaming us for the same,” Nabendu Bhattacharya stated.

However, followed by the negligible acceptance, the opposition shamelessly accused Tripura BJP of fueling protests and violence in the state. CPIM state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury alleged that their candidates were forced to withdraw their nominations due to attacks by goons of BJP.

“Violence began much before the announcement of the schedule of the civic polls. Many of our party activists were attacked and our candidates in five municipal councils and two nagar panchayats could not file their nominations. An unprecedented terror was let loose by BJP-sheltered goons,” Jitendra told the media.

Tripura CM Biplab Deb has thoroughly cleaned up the mess created under the Communist government’s reign for the past 25 years. Action speaks louder when it comes to Deb, be it striking hard on the corruption, regulating the influx of illegal immigrants, or his remarkable war on drugs, he doesn’t hesitate to stand up for what is right. The BJP government needed a cadre in Tripura and they found Biplab deb as the perfect fit for the criteria.

The more the mainstream media strategise against Biplab to demean him, the more he emerges as a power that is difficult to oust. And, with the recent civic election polls, he has proved that he is here to stay. Thus, it can be assumed that 2023 Tripura election results are also well predicted, and Biplab is going to sweep the state.
