Arvind Kejriwal has appointed men with hose pipes to clean the Yamuna

After being embarrassed, questioned and dragged into controversy for not cleaning the Yamuna river, the Arvind Kejriwal government came up with a brand new plan to clean up the river. However, closer scrutiny of the cleaning process tells us that it’s more an effort to clean Kejriwal’s image, rather than the Yamuna River.

IIT graduates use hosepipes to clean the Yamuna River

The IIT graduates of the Kejriwal government decided to apply a bizarre tactic to clean the Yamuna River. As Chhath Pooja approached, the devotees wanted their river to be clean so that they could offer their prayers to Bhagwan Surya. However, during the process of cleaning Ghats devotees were frustrated by the usual foams swimming over the water level in the river. This led to the Kejriwal government being criticised left, right and centre for not being able to clean the Yamuna River.

The solution given by the AAP government in Delhi ended up increasing troubles for the already controversial administration. Kejriwal government-appointed men with hose pipes to clean the Yamuna River. Think for a second, a river full of dirty water is being sprinkled with clean water in order to clean it. The idea is extremely silly, as even if the whole of 1,376 km of Yamuna River were sprinkled with clean water, it would have zero effect on the cleanliness of the river. The only plausible explanation of this type of stupidity is that Kejriwal wanted the swimming foams to settle down so that it does not give a bad optic for his government.

Kejriwal and his failing promises of cleaning the Yamuna:

As reported by the TFI, ever since he regained power in 2015, Arvind Kejriwal made tall claims about how he would change the face of the polluted Yamuna River. The truth, however, is that the situation of river Yamuna has turned from bad to worse. After failing to substantiate his tall and lofty claims on the ground, Mr Kejriwal and his party started to play the blame game and put responsibilities on neighbouring states and the central government to clean it. However the lies are getting exposed as BJP has now disclosed that AAP was given Rs 2,419 crores for cleaning the river, but it did not do anything with the money.

When it comes to diluting the essence of Diwali, the AAP government is the first to ban crackers. Now, lakhs of Hindu men and women will have to offer their prayers to Bhagwan Surya in probably the worst condition. The AAP government does not seem to care that the devotees have to stand up for at least half an hour with their legs inside the river water to do Chhath. There is a huge risk of loss of lives if the river water is polluted like this. But, apparently, a government with engineering graduates from IIT as its head and people from coveted Oxford University in its ranks can only think of opportunistic brownie points through PR stunts during Hindu festivals.

It has become a regular affair for devotees now and they are fed up with the lacklustre attitude of the Kejriwal government. Budget after budget people are witnessing new promises to clean rivers being made by the government with no change on the ground.
