After love and Narcotics Jihad, a new jihad called ‘Land Jihad’ is shaping the Islamic cabal’s strategy of changing demographic patterns in India. And now, after Assam, the Uttarakhand government has begun the crackdown on Land Jihad.
Uttarakhand government cracks down on land-jihad
The Pushkar Singh Dhami government has decided to form a committee that will be enquiring into the illegal usurping of land by people of a particular community.
On September 22 and September 23, 2021, people of the Muslim community had illegally bought a total of 23,760 sq. ft of land from the people belonging to the Hindu SC/ST community in Sarna village of Nainital. Reports suggest that a total of 13 registries were done in two days. These registries do not have prior permission from the district collector. The Uttarakhand Zamindar Destruction and Land Reform Act – 1950 makes it compulsory to take prior approval from the district collector before buying or transferring land from a person belonging to a scheduled caste community.
The matter came to the limelight when Ajendra Ajay, a BJP leader, enlightened the Chief Minister about the illegal land deals being done by the people of the Muslim community originally belonging to Aligarh and Sambhal. He alleged that the land was bought by threatening the original landowners. Additionally, he also described the plight of women who had handed the complaint letter to the SDM of Dhari, the Tehsil to which the village Sarna belongs.
DM Dhiraj Singh Garbyal said that the matter had come to his notice only a few days ago, after which Dhari’s SDM Yogesh Singh has been instructed to investigate the matter. The DM said that the SDM would hand over the investigation report to the district administration in three-four days.

Uttarakhand is one of the most sacred places for the practitioners of Sanatan Dharma. All the four sacred dhams, Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, and Badrinath are located in the state. It’s also believed that Mahabharat was composed by Ved Vyas while he was residing in a cave there.
Jihad expanding its reach in Uttarakhand
Recently, there have been incessant attempts to change the demography of Uttarakhand. The tools such as converting Hindus into Muslims through coercion or love-Jihad have been the main weapons for the attempted demographic change.
Slowly, after registering themselves in the state’s population register, people from the special community have been usurping lands owned by Hindus. Other than usurping the land from the landowners, unused and vacant land owned by the government is encroached upon by establishing a tent-like structure, which is then fully occupied in a few years with permanent structure. Due to the presence of hundreds of families on encroached or usurped land, the government had a tendency to grant them legitimacy.
In one of the clearest signs of erosion of Hindu heritage, Badri Nath Dham was claimed as Badri Shah, a sacred place for Muslims by various Muslim clerics. Reports of illegal construction of mosques near Tehri Dam were also sent to the state administration.

Recently, the Uttarakhand government has become proactive in its efforts towards maintaining the Sanatani sanctity of the state. Acting on the menace of various forms of Jihad and rising Muslim dominance in the region, the state government is also planning to bring the anti-conversion law in the state.
Jihad in Uttarakhand is not an exception, but part of the bigger strategy to usurp the cultural landscape
Land-Jihad is not unique to Uttarakhand or any other state. In West Bengal and Assam, some Muslims have been trying to establish their dominance through Land Jihad. Recently, after the full implementation of the national register for citizens, the Assam government decided to crack down on Land Jihad and launched a massive eviction drive to weed out illegal Bangladeshi immigrants from the state.
States like Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Tripura, and now Uttarakhand should be role models for the whole country. The kind of strategies and laws they have implemented to weed out the threat of radicalization is commendable. Though efforts are still in their nascent stage, they are an incredible stepping stone to curb the rise of religious extremism in the country.
